Good hospital but have been sitting in psych waiting to be discharged and NO ONE has come to talk to me. All they have done is take my vitals 3 different times and didn’t put my name in the telehealth like they said they would. I would just like to go home.

Good day. I am writing this on behalf of my daughter because she is too much a sweet human to report this. This morning 12/11/2023 at about 0600, I suggested to her (being a registered nurse myself and knowing my daughter well enough) to go to your ER since it's in walking distance to her school campus. She had called me because she was having chest pain, felt her heart was intermittently beating fast and she had back pain to the point where it was too uncomfortable to lay down. She's studying for her final exams and needed to sleep but was in a lot of pain.

To my dismay, all that was done was an EKG after which NO ONE seen bothered to follow up with her about. She waited in the ER from 0600 to after ~1100 when because she was tired of waiting and had exam in less than one hour, she went to seek out someone who told her that essentially her EKG was negative and the Attending from overnight had left and no one else had gotten around to seeing her. I was disturbed by this, because the parts in PA where we live hospitals care about the care they offer, even if it's for the ratings or to earn or maintain their magnet status. I suppose my daughter would have to be related to the governor of your state or someone in a high place to be given the courtesy of proper care. Or should I even go there and suggest for a moment the color of her skin may have played a part in determining if her complaints were credible. Who knows?

My daughter left your ER without any attention given to her back pain because she had an exam at 12 noon and she needed to get ready in advance. God help her. You really don't deserve the 1-star I rated you because it is 1-star too many that you don't deserve. I will try my best to help her find a PCP and/or an Urgent care center in the area and pray to God that she doesn't have an emergency that bring her back to your ER for any reason. After all what good is an ER if a normal healthy person not on anything elicit with chest and back pain does not get taken seriously? But then again, this is 2023 America. I rest my case.

P.S.: I am now checking out other reviews and see that other people are reporting similar poor experiences. It goes to show that this is a pattern of poor care. And the administration perhaps doesn't think it is an issue if it is not a hypothesis that they are cherry picking who they offer care to and who they don't. I wonder if Medicare is aware that you may not be worthy of the dollars you are receiving if you are consistently offering sub-par care. After all, a rating of 2.6 is certainly nothing to brag about. I pray no unsuspecting person dies from this. What a shame for a state capital in one of the the richest countries in the world! SMH...

My sister was discharged from the psych unit mid psychosis at AMC (they told us she was stable which is untrue) with a buttocks infection (confirmed now to be sepsis) despite us begging to let them keep her. She is now at their partner hospital CMH where they have to keep her for several weeks because she had a 105 fever and is on IV antibiotics. She also has listeria and necrotising fasciitis. Anyone who knows what that is knows how deadly it is. She has now had 4 surgeries since her admission to CMH as the fasciitis was eating at her flesh and i am disheartened AMC discharged her in this state. I will be filing multiple complaints and I pray my sister doesn’t pass away due to their negligence.

My 86 year old father took a nasty fall and was brought to Albany Medical Center. The ER was fantastic but once he got to his room on the trauma floor he received horrible care. One nurse, Eileen, was amazing. Most of the remaining staff was useless. His food tray got knocked over and a request for a replacement meal was ignored. No one cleans his room or empty his urinal. As he is basically incapacitated and can’t get out of bed, he should be checked on periodically. Not sure why he has a call button, as they never come. He wet his bed using the urinal and I asked for replacement sheets, no one came. And as all of his doctors can confirm, my dad is a low maintenance patient who never complains. I’ve instructed my wife that if I’m bleeding to death on the front steps of AMC, still take me to St Peter’s. Horrible horrible hospital.

I hope you never find yourself in this hospital. The ER is filthy and so overcrowded that even though we are admitted, my husband has been in the hallway for 13 hours and counting. And they knew we were coming! We were transferred here. No bed in sight. No one paying attention. He has a raging infection and an open wound that is resistant to some antibiotics and he’s here getting more infected and probably Covid since no one wears a mask. If he doesn’t get MRSA here it will be a miracle. This place is terrible. Simply terrible.

Wasted my time they only hire straight men and women for work and make up excuses of as a gay why they can’t hire you. Set you up fast, tell you stories after stories to make you fail. Jamaican female staff member gave me false information about the the application process.

Don’t expect quick treatment if you head to Albany Med. myself and others have been sitting in the ER for 14+ hours which I believe is in violation of NYS health regulations; "No later than eight hours after presenting in the emergency service, every person shall be admitted to the hospital, or assigned to observation services in accordance with section 405.32 of this part, or transferred to another hospital in accordance with paragraph (6) of this subdivision, or discharged to self-care or the care of a physician or other appropriate follow-up service.” In 14 hours they haven’t even confirmed that I was still in the waiting room much less if my condition had even improved. Apparently possible spinal injury/loss of ability to walk isn’t high on their list. Shameful.
Edit: it should also be mentioned that every time I’ve attempted to discuss my treatment with the charge nurse or patient relations their immediate solution has been to throw pain killers at me. And we wonder why we have an opioid epidemic.

My son Ash was hit by a car on March 29th. It was bad. If not for the wonderful care from the doctors,Dr. Cory C., Dr. Frank Genovese, nurses, all staff,I'm not sure he would still be here. Excellent care, professionalism, knowledgeable, and empathy. All very important to the patient and their family. Thank you!

Girlfriend was having seizures, chest pain, neck pain and in and out of consciousness. Got triage within half an hour, ekg an hour later then spent 11.5hrs in the waiting room with zero attention from any employee there. She went to the bathroom and collapsed on the floor, eyes in the back of her head while having another seizure, the security guard was the only one to come over and help me get her back into her chair. Nurse came out and took her vitals and told me she was fine even though blood pressure was unreal high and that we would have to wait till a room opened up which they couldn’t even give any type of estimated time on that. At that moment she passed out again and was barely breathing, severely dehydrated, blood pressure through the roof, blood sugar levels were dangerously low, throwing up uncontrollably and not a single person cared. I gave her mouth to mouth and got her awake myself and somewhat talking to me and was able to get her to drink a little Gatorade and water till I got her in a wheel chair and got her out of the hospital to go to Saratoga ER where we were immediately treated and had zero wait time. The check in people at Albany told us every hospital around was like theirs and good luck getting into a room anywhere else at a reasonable time, they lie, they don’t care if someone is literally dying in their waiting room, they talk bad about patients behind the counter while they sit there laughing and doing nothing. The level of disrespect, zero care, no communication, and disregard to people’s situations was enough to make everyone in the waiting room lose their minds. Not to mention the guy that came in threatening to shoot the place up and they just let him walk away while laughing at the situation was utterly disgusting. This hospital should be shut down and never be allowed to see another patient again. If you are in a condition where your life feels at risk then I would suggest to go literally anywhere else other than here.

The doctors kept me in the dark about what would be happening next during my labor induction . I had to wait hours to get an actual doctor to come talk to me about what was going to happen next. They messed up my foley bulb induction and had to re-do it twice. Also, a resident doctor had the nerve to mock me in a very degrading manner after I told the nurse that I found her demeanor abrasive. Talk about petty. Just another young doctor who claims to want to help women, but in the end has no compassion for those women’s feelings during a very emotional time. This was my third birth experience (first one at Albany Med) and my worst. The nurses were nice, but it couldn’t make up for the terrible experience I had with the doctors.

Went with my bf on Nov 10 around 7pm, he has crohn's disease and was in severe pain like he has never been in before, and was advised by a local gastro emergency like to go to the ER. He was in the emergency room waiting room for 12 hours before deciding to leave. Zero communication at all from anyone at the hospital, and there were plenty of people in the waiting room that were approaching 20 hours of wait by the time we left to go to another hospital. Don't go.

Albany Medical Center put my brothers G-Tube in wrong and he was rushed to the emergency room last night. He has peritonitis. He needed emergency surgery and we do not know when he will go home. He probably will miss his 1st Thanksgiving, because of the hospital's stupid actions.
