A-Ri-Rang Oriental Market - Albuquerque (1826 Eubank Blvd NE)
Located in a modest building on Eubank Blvd, A-Ri-Rang Oriental Market is one of Albuquerque’s most beloved "hidden gems." It is a family-owned Korean grocery store that doubles as a tiny, highly acclaimed restaurant. Known for its authentic "homestyle" cooking, it has become a community hub for those seeking genuine Korean flavors in the Duke City.
The Market: Small but Mighty
While the footprint is smaller than massive chains like H-Mart or 99 Ranch, A-Ri-Rang is exceptionally well-stocked with the essentials of Korean and Japanese cuisine.
Fresh House-Made Kimchi: Widely considered some of the best in the city. They make their kimchi fresh every Tuesday—if you’re a fan, that’s the best day to visit.
Specialty Produce & Meats: You’ll find enoki mushrooms, Napa cabbage, and thinly sliced meats (like samgyeopsal) specifically cut for Korean BBQ.
Snacks & Staples: A great selection of Korean and Japanese treats, frozen dumplings (mandu), dried seaweed, and various Korean chili pastes (gochujang).
Housewares: The aisles are packed with unique items, including stone dolsot pots, high-quality rice cookers, and even cleavers.
The Restaurant: A "Mama’s Kitchen" Experience
The highlight for many is the tiny dining area tucked in the back. With only a few tables and a small counter, it offers an intimate, no-frills experience that feels like eating in someone’s home kitchen.
Signature Dishes:
Bulgogi: Sweet and savory marinated beef served sizzling on a platter with rice.
Bibimbap: A vibrant bowl of rice, seared sirloin, vegetables, and a fried egg, meant to be stirred with spicy red sauce.
Haemul Pajeon: A crispy, flavorful savory pancake packed with seafood and scallions.
Soon Dubu Jjigae: A comforting, spicy soft tofu stew that is a fan favorite during the colder months.
The "Banchan" & Tea: Upon sitting down, you are often greeted with a complimentary pot of hot Boricha (barley tea) and a selection of small side dishes (banchan), such as pickled radish and various types of kimchi.
Why It’s Unique
Authenticity: Unlike larger "fusion" spots, A-Ri-Rang is the "real deal." The recipes taste like traditional home cooking, with no shortcuts on spice or flavor.
The Vibe: It’s a quiet, peaceful spot where you might see multi-generational families shopping or dining together. The staff is known for being polite and helpful, even for those unfamiliar with the menu.
Affordability: Both the groceries and the restaurant portions are priced very reasonably, offering high value for the quality provided.

The most interesting reviews
- The food was outstanding!!!! I haven’t had food this good since NY, it’s that good. The service was on point and the servers were just so sweet.
- Best dolsot bibimbap I've had in Albuquerque. A hidden gem inside a very unassuming grocery. While it's a very small little restaurant at the back of the grocery store, it's clear that they have a lot of take out business. As you're seated, you're given a nice glass of barley tea while you look over the menu. It is very refreshing. The dishes are all very good and comforting. We love having dinner and then stocking up on some of our favorite Asian groceries afterward. Our favorite Korean restaurant in Albuquerque, by far.
- So lovely and small.
Will go back to try the food. It deserves more foot traffic and business.
- I reviewed many ratings before my first time eating at the restaurant today. I agree with most reviewers that the food is good. I am very hard to please, and I found the place was clean and the service was good. I would definitely say if I found anything unacceptable. All three dishes served to us were very large. I do agree with the reviewers who said there was not quite enough meat in the meat dishes. This is likely a culturally American perspective,
I would imagine - me included. I expected the meat to dominate the dish and be present in every bite. That isn't how it was. I did observe that the meat was in equal portion to other elements in the dish, and I bet that was the chef's real intention. The meat that was there was very tasty, though. I really liked the pickled radish side. That was the first I ever had. So this hard to please person would encourage you to try out the place. You may want to adjust your expectations about the amount of meat you'll have in your meal. I will, and I will dine there again.
- Every time we are in Albuquerque we stop by to get something to eat and to stock up on groceries
- Good food! My favorite dish is the bimbimbap which is rice with many other ingredients. The seafood pancake is a MUST HAVE it’s absolutely delicious the lady’s working there are super nice and really caring. Can’t wait to go back again.
