- I made my reservation through a 3rd party and was assigned to this Avis. My flight was delayed, but my car was still available upon my arrival. It was pretty late when I landed, so I had no line checking in. My car was clean, and the entire process was very smooth. Based on other reviews, I consider myself lucky! I would absolutely rent from this Avis again.

- Felt the need to write a review to comment on others' complaints. I've rented cars from this Avis 5 times now and haven't had a single issue.

1. Download the app and sign up for Avis Preferred. It's free to join and you get to skip the line and go directly to you car. 2. Staffing shortages causing long lines are nothing new in any business, don't expect a car rental agency at an airport to be any different. If you disagree, refer back to #1. 3. If you think 25k miles on a car is a lot, maybe you should try somewhere else and pay a lot more. If it runs correctly and is in good shape, it doesn't matter how many miles are on it. 4. If you expect the vehicles to be perfectly detailed before you rent, then bring a chair because your wait in line is going to be considerably longer. 5. Another feature on the app is the ability to change cars. I'll admit that the choices at this particular airport are limited in this, but I've never had a problem changing cars if I don't like the one assigned to me.

Pickup and drop off were easy. The customer service prior to pickup, at the reservation service was most degrading telling me that an aarp credit is the same as rate in the calculation process

I used to love Avis. But this most recent trip from Phoenix to San Diego? First car had totally messed up windshield wipers. One looked like it had been put through a blender as in it was completely bent in insane ways. . I can’t believe someone let that out for rental. Replacement car? Again terrible windshield wiper problems and a collision avoidance system that would have killed me if I hadn’t kept turning it off as it thought any oncoming car was a reason to brake. This is a known issue in some Honda models. Avis, what happened to servicing your cars?

Not given the car I reserved and paid ahead of time for. Was told that there was additional insurance I had to buy even though it was optional, the agent would not listen.

Pick another rental car agency at PHX, the staff on the ground and the on call customer service are abysmal. Never again.

The car was in poor condition, with squeaking brakes and suspension. The USB port was broken, and some interior plastic parts were loose, falling off. The car had not been serviced on time, and an annoying 'service required' pop-up was on all the time.
I was also charged for fuel service, even though I had filled up the gas tank before returning the car.

Just picked up a car here for a one way rental to Texas - all the front desk staff were so awesome, they made my day! Really really kind people, they made the process easy. The car is in decent condition and clean, I'm happy with this experience so far. Really great customer service from everyone at this location, thank you!

Bad experience based on 2 things.
1. I have no idea why it needs to take 1-2 hours to pickup a car but this was the last thing i wanted to do after a 5 hour flight when i pre-reserved. It was infuriating to watch 1-2 reps at a time taking 30 minutes seemingly to go through each customer. After every transaction they appeared to go in the back, take their sweet time, and have side conversations. I even witnessed a rep go from the avis desk to the payless desk when that line was EMPTY, meanwhile the avis line is full all the way to the back of the roping. Whoever is doing scheduling or managing processing here really needs to be held accountable.
2. We received our car. had a number of scratches so took pictures and mentioned to employee that checks at gate to note. We weren't even warned about the fact our tires were marked for being in poor condition and not safe to drive (which we found out from the nice branch at Prescott) and later noticed a very bad tape up job at the bottom of the car that created a squeeking noise the entire time to our destination. We were stressed the whole time the car would fall apart but it was the middle of the night between cities. This is more shameful than the checkin experience. Im considering calling in for some reimbursement for this very fact as theres no excuse.... not cool to send us off with a car in this condition.

Probably not going with AVIS again.
