Louisiana's Children's Hospital

Children’s Hospital New Orleans is a 263-bed, not-for-profit pediatric medical center offering a complete range of healthcare services for children from birth to 21 years. With over 40 pediatric specialties and more than 600 pediatric providers, Children's Hospital is the first and largest full-service hospital exclusively for children in Louisiana and the Gulf South.

In 2017, Children’s Hospital New Orleans broke ground on the most significant expansion project in the hospital’s history. This unprecedented, $300 million investment made by our Board of Trustees and LCMC Health brings together infrastructure, technology, and unmatched expertise to deliver a healthier, happier future for Louisiana’s children.

Children's Hospital is proud to provide the highest level of care for children from all 64 parishes in Louisiana, across the Gulf South, and beyond. In 2022, our expert team provided more than 253,000 clinic visits, 67,693 ER visits, and performed 12,640 surgical cases. Our Helicopter, Abby, brought 408 patients from across the state and region to Children's Hospital to receive vital critical care services.

Critical care is provided in the hospital’s 36-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), 17-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), and 28-bed Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU).

Children's Hospital's Main Campus ED is one of the area’s busiest emergency departments. The ED is staffed around the clock by board-certified pediatric emergency medicine physicians, with the availability of a full range of pediatric specialists. The Emergency Department has a total of 46 exam rooms, including a dedicated Behavioral Health pod and two Trauma Bays. The ED is supported by nurses and other staff who are specially trained to care for children experiencing pediatric emergencies, and their families.

Children's Hospital's 51-bed Behavioral Health Center offers comprehensive mental and behavioral health services as one of the largest pediatric programs in the country. In April 2020, the hospital opened all new Surgical, Imaging, and Dialysis centers as part of our $300 million campus transformation, which reached completion in November 2021.

Outpatient appointments with pediatric specialists are offered at the clinic on the hospital's main campus and at our many satellite locations throughout Louisiana, including Metairie, the Northshore, Baton Rouge, Alexandria, Lafayette, and Diamondhead, MS, in addition to a robust, 24/7 Virtual Care for Kids program.

The wonderful staff at children's Hospital

I, Sergeant James Glass, my wife Joyce, and my family would love to extend prayers, sincere gratitude for the many prayers, and showing of abundance of support in the challenging time that we faced with my son, Jaykob, (a.k.a Money Glass) taking ill.
Whether you called, texted, or just thought of us. We, the Glass Family appreciate and thank you guys. We pray that God extends the same blessing to you guys as he has for my family. I pray God to enlarge your territory and take you to new heights. Be blessed. Once again, thank you.

Beware of this place they let my mentally ill child go said nothing was wrong with her but she tried to kill her brother again 3 months later. Then went back there and they said she was good that she was being abused they believed a clever manipulator and put our family through hell. We won the case but not before our entire world was turned upside down. The children phycologist there are a absolute joke.

Took my nonverbal autistic son there, waited 3.5 hours before even being triaged. The registration lady was very sweet and offered to take us to the room next door to the resource room so he wouldn’t be overwhelmed the two lady’s in there were rude and had An attitude because he couldn’t wear a mask. When he finally got back to a room he wasn’t swabbed a chest X-ray preformed the symptoms were pretty much just treated with amoxicillin without even knowing what exactly was going on with him. I have been taking all 4 of my kids here for 13 years and this was the worst experience ever. I have worked in healthcare for 27 years so I pretty much know what I’m talking about.

This facility treats our kids with dignity. I like how they have a packet they need to work through and it helps identify ways kids can cope. The staff/nurses/aides seem well-managed, I can always talk to a nurse or a doctor. I receive daily calls, and they call back; something other facilities severely lack. They didn't get a 5th star because some of the psychiatrists seem to talk in circles and not really give helpful advice other than to call XYZ and get more info there.

She called my place of employment on behalf of Children’s only to curse my staff out. She should not be a representation of Children’s Hospital. Feel free to contact for more information.

I'm an "adult" patient of Dr. Ellis. He's SOO sweet and, a very good doctor. I have to say. He has a talent for, being able to talk to patient and parent, at the same time. He's what I mean!! I had an appointment with him 1 day. When I was around, 19 trying to get my drivers license!! He was explaining something to my mom. He stopped right in the middle and told "me" something. I don't remember exactly what though!!

The PICU is the redeeming part of this practice as a collective. I was sorely disappointed with everything after we left the PICU, minus the fantastic few nurses we had (Alyssa 5th floor especially). The patient care advocacy team that listens to your concerns about everything regarding patient care, as far as I know is great for listening to your concerns but I have no actual idea if anything that you relay to them actually does anything besides make you feel better that you told someone.

Children’s Hospital used to be top tier one of the best children’s hospital in Louisiana . In recent years this hospital has completely gone downhill. I hate it! Don’t get me wrong the Metairie location is amazing , but the Henry Clay one , is insane. I grew up in & out of this hospital due to Asthma but disappointment is an understatement . I wouldn’t even send a fish here! We had a one day overnight stay , We were transported by the ambulance , which meant we had to wait on our ride once we got discharged the rn said my supervision wanted to know “when you’re leaving” we need the room as if I didn’t have a 2month old . As if my child didn’t have RsV. Oh & The refrigerator on floor 3 where you can get something to drink was nasty nasty. Everybody want to be a nurse
but not everybody deserve the title. It’s hard to find good nurses these days .
