San Diego, 3555 Sports Arena Blvd, San Diego, CA 92110, Sports Arena Shopping Center

If you’re living in Point Loma, Ocean Beach, or Midway, the Home Depot at 3555 Sports Arena Blvd is basically the local headquarters for getting stuff done. Located right across from the Pechanga Arena, it’s the go-to spot for those of us who would rather spend a Saturday morning fixing up a coastal bungalow than fighting the heavier traffic further inland. It’s a high-energy warehouse, but it still has that neighborhood vibe where you’re just as likely to see a local contractor grabbing a coffee at sunrise as you are a neighbor picking out new patio furniture for a weekend BBQ.

What really makes this "Sports Arena" branch a lifesaver is the Tool & Truck Rental Center. We all know that in our beach-adjacent neighborhoods, garage space is a luxury, so there’s no point in buying a giant power auger or a floor sander that you’ll only use once every five years. You can just rent the pro-grade gear for a few hours, knock out your project, and bring it back. Plus, if you’re picking up something that definitely won’t fit in your SUV—like a new water heater or a stack of lumber for a deck repair—they have rental trucks right on-site to help you get your haul home without the headache.

The Garden Center here is another local favorite, especially when that San Diego sun starts to kick in. It’s the first place we head to find drought-tolerant plants and succulents that can actually survive the salt air and the dry season, along with the right mulch and irrigation supplies to keep your yard looking sharp. The staff—especially the folks at the Pro Desk—actually understand the specific needs of our local homes. Whether you’re looking for a specific part for a vintage Point Loma house or need advice on a low-maintenance lawn, there’s usually an "Orange Apron" around with a practical tip.

For those days when you’re in a real rush to beat the traffic near the I-5 and I-8 interchange, the Home Depot app and Curbside Pickup are total game-changers. You can check exactly which aisle and bay your door hinges are in before you even park, or just order online and have the team bring your items right out to your vehicle near the front. It’s efficient, reliable, and perfectly situated to help the community keep building. Whether you're a professional builder hitting the aisles at 6:00 AM or a DIYer tackling your first kitchen backsplash, this Sports Arena Blvd spot is the anchor that gets the job done.

Business Hours

Monday – Saturday: 6:00 AM – 10:00 PM

Sunday: 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM (Note: Curbside pickup is generally available from 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM. The Pro Desk and Rental Center typically open early at 6:00 AM on weekdays to help the local crews get a head start on the workday.)

When The Home Depot was founded in 1978, Bernie Marcus and Arthur Blank had no idea how revolutionary this new “hardware store” would be for home improvement and the retail industry.

Today, we’re proud to be the world’s largest home improvement retailer. In more than 2,300 stores across North America, we aspire to excel in service – to our customers, associates, communities and shareholders. That’s what leadership means to us. That's The Home Depot difference.

Our founders' vision of one-stop shopping for the do-it-yourselfer came to fruition when they opened the first two Home Depot stores on June 22, 1979, in Atlanta, Georgia. The first stores, at around 60,000 square feet each, were cavernous warehouses that dwarfed the competition and stocked 25,000 products, much more than the average hardware store at that time.

Today, The Home Depot is the world's largest home improvement retailer with approximately 475,000 orange-blooded associates and more than 2,300 stores in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. The typical store today averages 105,000 square feet of indoor retail space, interconnected with an e-commerce business that offers more than one million products for the DIY customer, professional contractors, and the industry's largest installation business for the Do-It-For-Me customer.

I have enjoyed shopping here in the past, I have. I generally sleep next to the bus stop behind here on Midway, but this morning I was awakened by the security guard telling me that Home Depot owns everything up to the sidewalk behind it's building. I was then told, as I spiralled through my depression stating that I may as well kill myself cause I can't find a place to sleep in a place that has made it legal for people to sleep outside during hard times on what is public property. Anyhow, I made the comment of killing myself and she said she gets paid extra if I do so; she gets a bonus, a bonus if I kill myself. What kind of sick world is this? You humans are pathetic

A Sunrun representative kept bugging us asking how much our electricity bill was. I had to get assertive with him and send him on his way. I suggest not having salespeople bother your customers...bad form.

Aside from that, Mary in tile was helpful after we had to wait for a few minutes for her to help us.

Love going to Home Depot. I always something interesting there. They also do the kid’s craft on the first Saturday of every month. Will definitely be taking my grandson in July. They offer Military discount and allow you to bring your dog into the store with you.

This review is specifically for Jimmy, who was very patient and helpful in helping me locate things around the store and cutting pieces to the length I needed them for a fencing job. He was very professional and kind. There were a few other people that helped me on my second trip that day that unfortunately I can't remember their names, but there are a few solid handful of employees at this location that are above and beyond! Thank you ALL for your help!

Hate going to Home Depot especially this location. You can literally walk past a dozen employees and none of them will acknowledge you or ask if you need any help. Ended up going to Ace hardware instead

The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. My complaint is customers who refuse to return items to the proper bin or location. The products are good quality. Nursery items are well tended.

This is a pretty good Home Depot and parking is relatively easy. I have an easier time finding someone to help me than other Home Depot's, though they are usually near the entrance.

Joe in plumbing did a top-notch job of tracking down and assembling multiple compression fittings together to make up for an out-of-stock part when I really needed to get the job done. I had already gone to other locations looking for the part.
Thank you Joe!
