TOP important and interesting reviews from patients

I had my baby here in September and overall Lovelace was a nice hospital. The ob triage nurses were a little rude and told us to go to a dark room with no other instructions. My husband and I turned on the light and closed the door and waited. I understand they probably were just tired. But the labor nurses are amazing and encouraging and the after care nurses were the same. The mandatory classes in order to be discharged were annoying especially for third time parents. It sucks to have to go to those after you just gave birth and are in pain and stinky and just want to sleep. Lactation was also amazing!

It is NO little thing being a medical professional. I AM GRATEFUL for all of you who chose this path. The path to help care for someone who needs it. Grateful for all the countless hours of studies and sacrifice You've completed. It's a challenging profession, thank You.

Hope You never have to visit for care but if You do ask to be taken here. Clean, spacious facility. The team that cared for us on our visit exercise consideration.

All of my labor and delivery nurses were amazing and very attentive. My midwives were very supportive of my autonomy and wishes. The birthing room was great, had the labor balls and peanut. The recovery room was comfortable but small for big families. Liked the discharge class and all of the perks that came with birthing there like a 1 year pass to Explora, cafe vouchers for dad, and a 15 minute massage!

What a nightmare. Never mind we were all sick and were in a place where we needed health care. Louis, the Registered Nurse's ego was so big, he couldn't see past it to see people. Human Beings. Sick human beings. We were all there so much longer than any of us wanted to be there. Their system is the reason everyone had to wait to be seen for their illness. Louis was cruel in the way he administered the covid test and the throat swab to determine positive or negative for the test. He crammed the utensil used for the nose swab into my nose as fast and as hard as he could, making me scream. The throat culture was administered the say way. As fast and as hard as he could. Once the gag reflex kicked in I coughed until I almost puked. His mission was to get em in and get em out. No sympathy, no empathy, just cruelty. He doesn't belong working in the medical health field. Unfortunately, the doctor doesn't tell you what is going on with you, unless you ask specific questions. I had Louis explain what the results were. HAH, he couldn't get me out of there fast enough. Every time I asked him a question about the tests, he backed away and said there are thousands of viruses out there. No kidding, I didn't ask that question. I was given a prescription for an antibiotic and asked if there was a bacterial infection because antibiotics do not help viral infections. he just kept saying, go home and then his voice trailed off. Never Again will I go to that Lovelace Women's Hopsital Emergency. They wouldn't even tell me what the chest xrays showed.

I had a horrible experience the day I went to the ER. I waited for about 4hrs before I was attended to. When someone eventually came, she came with drip but no stand and went away for another 1hr to get dripstand. She never showed up again until someone else came along yet I was so cold and weak. I was given an estimate of $601 but after leaving that day despite the fact I was only given 1 normal saline, labdraw and ultrasound, a bill of about $5000 plus came bouncing back at me with different bills from different diagnostic centers yet having the same service I had been billed for on lovelace bill. It's highly ridiculous yet they claim they already gave a discount and my bill was meant to be $10,000 plus with no insurance. Are you kidding me? Lovelace isn't a place to go for emergency visit. The hospital is so disjointed that you get bills from different sections which will never be told and you have to wait for hours. I'm highly disappointed

Avoid Coco the midwife at all cost. She threatened to take our baby to NICU unless we let them induce. Stating, “You guys don’t want to go home without your baby, do you?” She made multiple threats towards our baby , but that one was the most horrific. My wife proceeded to go into active labor minutes after being threatened and delivered our little boy naturally as planned. At no point in our stay was my wife running a fever or did our son’s heart rate rise. Thank God for nurse Megan she was the best and as was the rest of the staff. This happened back in February and I hesitated to post anything because the Board got involved. Unfortunately I just found out that Coco is still there likely threatening new parents like she did us. I’m disappointed in the Lovelace Board because we spoke with my with multiple nurses and midwives who have said nothing but negative things about Coco. Please be careful and hold your ground. You know what’s best for you.

Appointment was easy to schedule. Dr. Sopko and her staff are all extremely helpful and friendly. I would recommend her and her staff to anyone needing to see Cardiology.

I normally go to UNM, but I resorted to Lovelace out of desperation because a doctor at DCUC urged me to get a CT ASAP. He even gave me an emergency referral, which apparently means nothing because I arrived at 4:30 and didn't get a CT until 8:30ish (there was about 3 patients ahead of me btw). The staff definitely make it apparent they'd rather be some where else — snapping at patients, having little patience, "wish I wasn't here" disposition, etc. The physician who came to tell me my results was there for MAYBE 30 seconds? I didn't even get to ask questions because my diagnosis didn't make sense for a number of reasons which I would have loved to discuss. Because the diagnosis in itself was relatively harmless, it felt like she and the rest of the staff no longer took my pain seriously. Overall, very disappointing.

My prenatal care in Santa Fe was in my opinion awful. When i was referred to be staying till I birth at 25w I was nervous and scared as a first time mom that they would continue to give me shy nurses who don’t talk and just kinda treat me like a number but they did no such thing. I was so pleasantly surprised with how amazing the staff is. Julie was the best nurse knowing exactly where to find baby since he was so small and moved so much and when I need to turn because my hips were not having it on those beds. She also had a way of calming me down being so amazing. When baby was born at 26w the anesthesiologist (k. Rogers) was so funny and calmed me down and walked me through the whole process as I freaked out internally the whole time. The NICU staff is so amazing we so far have had only one nurse who was a little rude on an off day at work! My partner loves Karen because she was with him and helped him through the whole process as he went with baby when they took him up, she also is so sweet and talkative. I loved the dr Sarah a haves for doing a classical so in the future I have a shot at a vaginal delivery instead of up and down. Next pregnancy in the way future I’m definitely choosing to go straight to Albuquerque and set up all my dr apt with Lovelace.

I never received a bill in the mail and then was turned over to a collection department. When I called to try and fix it they said they had emailed the bill and it was already in collections so there is nothing they can do. Thanks for ruining my good credit!

My one and only complaint is no one told me to go to the 101 building off Jefferson, behind the actual hospital. Why in the world would you tell someone to go the Lovelace Women's Hospital when the tests are done in an entirely different building and location?

I would not recommend getting a surgery/hysterectomy at Lovelace Women's Hospital. I was scheduled for an outpatient/day surgery (minimally invasive) Robotic Assisted Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy to remove my large uterus/fibroids. During surgery I received the 5 robotic small incisions and one large nearly 7 inch incision to complete the surgery. I was then quickly released from Lovelace in less then 2 hours after my surgery was completed in terrible condition: I felt like vomiting (I told this to the PACU nurse), I was visibly shivering from all the medication during surgery and the trauma my body had just been through, I couldn't walk, I was pail. I was literally wheeled out the backdoor in a wheelchair by a nurse to be released in the back parking lot, where they had my husband waiting to pick me up, since no family is allowed to witness the poor/rushed PACU recovery process at Lovelace Women's hospital. The surgeon/GYNO that performed my hysterectomy is the Medical Co-Director of the Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology program at Lovelace Women's hospital (Dr. Karen Finkelstein). My surgery did not go as planned/scheduled. The outcome of my surgery with my large 7 inch incision is far from an outpatient quick release day surgery. The PACU nurse seemed only concerned with getting my blood pressure to what they consider an acceptable range so that Lovelace could release me. My after visit summary/paperwork that was handed to me by Lovelace PACU nurse when I was released showed the performed procedure was the robotic hysterectomy, there was nothing stating anything about the large abdominal/pelvic area incision. Women are normally kept in the hospital for 1-3 nights for a hysterectomy/surgery that ends up with a large 7 inch incision. I tried for the past 2 months to communicate with Lovelace through their patient relations department about the unsafe, rushed, premature release of me. Dr. Finkelstein, Lovelace's Medical Co-Director of their minimally invasive gynecology program, (which is the surgeon who performed my hysterectomy) apparently thinks that a 7 inch incision to remove an organ/uterus is a minimally invasive outcome of a surgery/hysterectomy, and the patient does not deserve inpatient pain management and proper care by trained medical professionals. Nobody from the hospital made sure I could pee, pass gas, walk or anything before releasing me, and they ignored the fact that I basically had a traditional hysterectomy large incision which does change the immediate aftercare from outpatient day surgery to inpatient overnight care. This was my first real surgery, my first time being under general anesthesia and first time being intubated in my life. Come to find out days after my surgery Dr. Finkelstein labelled my large incision in the post surgery report as a mini-laparotomy, which is usually a smaller 2 inch incision. My 7 incision is consistent with a laparotomy/abdominal hysterectomy/C-section and women are normally kept in the hospital for 1-3 nights, not 1-3 hours. This has been a nightmare first surgery experience that I'll never forget. It's shocking that a patient can be released so quickly after this type of invasive surgery outcome and that a doctor can basically lie in the post surgical report and label a large 7 inch incision as a Mini-laparotomy. I wish I had only had a small mini-lap incision because then I would have less scarring, less pain, easier recovery, etc.

Philip in Admissions and Elmer in Radiology took great care of me for my after-hours procedures, gently navigating me through the check-in process and the MRI’s, respectively. It was a very pleasant experience and I will recommend them to anyone else needing similar healthcare. Thank you, Philip and Elmer!
