On behalf of the Sisters of Mercy and everyone at Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital (ESJH), thank you for entrusting us with your healthcare needs. As Atlanta’s first faith-based and longest-serving hospital, our mission is the same today as it was over 140 years ago—to provide compassionate care, especially to those in need.

We understand the stress that being in a hospital may create for our patients and their families. We also recognize that planning your care after you leave the hospital can be concerning. Our Care Coordination team consists of nurse case managers and social workers here to assist with your discharge planning. Along with your physicians, our Care Coordination team will work closely with you to keep you informed about your treatments, medications, and resources available when you leave the hospital.

We take great pride in the culture and exceptional service provided at ESJH and are committed to hearing about your great experiences and addressing any concerns you may have. Please share information directly with your care team, nursing unit leaders, or the Patient Advocacy team.

Thank you again for choosing Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital, and please let us know how we may continue to serve you and your family.

TOP important and interesting reviews from patients

My brother was admitted to this hospital and when I say the nurses was soooo respectful and kind. Madeline on the 3rd floor needs a raise. I didn’t get every nurse name but they all did an amazing job. However, the ladies in the cafeteria on the ground floor could have had a better attitude. Management really need to have a talk with them or consider removing them from the hospital because I went down there several times and their attitudes never changed. The cashiers and the manager in the cafeteria did an amazing job. I’m talking about the food servers(females)who got very rude and impatient with the customers. I did report them to the manager the first time it happened and when I came back to eat again, the young lady still had a disgusting attitude. That’s poor customer service. I would give the hospital stay a 9/10. It would have been a 10/10 if it wasn’t for the cafeteria workers

Excellent experience as companion to my sister who was getting a surgical procedure. Everything immaculate. Highly competent medical, surgical and support staff. Brilliant urologist practicing there provided continuity of care for a critical oncology process about to begin. Solved a difficult problem. One thing: the parking. Paid parking is reasonable but the darned exit machines were not operational. Line backed up and people already stressed and ready to leave couldn’t get out. Whatever the malfunction was. A human being never showed up to address the situation. One man went ballistic and tried to break the gate. Awful scene.

Front the time l entered the building the staff was beyond courteous and professional especially Monay in admitting. I was then met in a great timely fashion by the best Nurses staff ever! Nadine was my outstanding Assigned Nurse along with wonderful Nurse Yetsi Marina and Megan. Katy Jenna Tech Lolli. I was attended to in the best caring possible way

imagined. They made my procedure as comforting as humanely possible and ll never forget them! My surgeon and his staff were just as amazing

Witnessed a lot of poor execution of care from false charting in my family members chart, nurses not knowing common medical terminology, and HIPPA violations. Patients shouldn’t be discussing medical history and getting their vitals taken in the lobby in the waiting area chairs. Patients shouldn’t wait several hours to be seen by a nurse and never seen by a doctor after they received a referral to come. Terms like hemorrhoids, fibroids, anemia etc should be definable by all medical staff. Patient history and patient symptoms should be discussed and charted as they are discussed, not chicken scratch on some obscure paper. When a patient asks to leave because they’re being neglected, that’s not refusing care. That’s knowing how to advocate for yourself when your health professionals can’t meet your needs. It’s a risk to take anyone here. Nobody seems qualified or knows what they’re doing. They’re quite dismissive and don’t think they need to clearly define care. And yeah, someone should read this review and find a way to get in touch with me. There’s no reason patients should be out hundreds to thousands of dollars for neglect like this. Lawsuit just waiting to happen.

My 71 year old brother was transferred from Emory at John's Creek after suffering a heart attack. We were told they had the most experience but in reality they were pushing Emory facilities. While waiting for several days for stints he suffered a stroke from a clot from the heart attack. Told he was too weak to endure the procedure. Days later PT came in to work with him leaving him in a chair, after asking for assistance for help to get back in bed he was told 10 mins resulting in more than 30 minutes waiting for help...he fell while trying to get in bed himself. Only then when his alarm went off did they come to assist him. Still no surgery still no stints. I feel its a medicaid situation for Emory, running out the medicaid clock. After finally voicing my concerns did I receive a call from the cardiologist,
Overly nice, fake concern and free parking passes brought to his room last evening. Waiting for a bed for stroke rehab at NEGA. They can't wait to get him out... I feel trying to cover their a%#! This will not be the last they hear from me!

100000% my most terrify experience with healthcare. Feared for my life on multiple occasions in this ER. Make sure you have a friend/ family member accompany you or someone that can be your patient advocate to keep you safe.

A majority of the staff that I've encountered while being here has been rude and inattentive. When using the call button they act as if you're bothering them. The lady I'm taking care of is hard of hearing and the techs acted as if it was a bother to ask them to speak up and slowly so she could understand them.

Employees in the ER are very slow and the staff in waiting room area are nonchalant , rude and disrespectful . They show no compassion after waiting for hours in the waiting room ! I’ve called and spoke to two different people before I can get a hold of the charge nurse . f, Northside hospital across the street actually care about you .They will not tell you how long you will be there & they will say they are short staffed ! I would rate zero

The most unprofessional, non empathetic ER I’ve experienced in 30 years in the entire U.S.!
The ER doctor by the name of Dr Glaser continues to deliver horrific health(non)care with an onslaught of negative patient reviews and remains employed there. The nurses from triage to bedside are also in alignment with the same subpar unprofessional health delivery….I refuse to categorize it as healthcare. I have attempted to share with the CEO who is never there, patient advocacy & the joint commission. Patient advocacy is employed to protect the staff as they document your grievance and do NOT cc the patient with their given testimony. Enter this ER at your own risk!!!! The nurses DO NOT identify themselves, as they realize their unacceptable behaviors.

Don’t come here if you’re black, young and don’t look sick. Nurse was rude immediately, and obviously racist. Stated they are people in the back dying without the details of my condition or medical that was needed. Front desk needs better training and customer service skills. They huddle with security to talk about each patient that entered into the facility. More gossiping than working. Grady hospital would never even though waiting time would be 10 hours but I have never seen Grady discriminate against patients.

Upon entering the hospital, the front desk agent was kind.! She asked me for my name birthday & my insurance info, but didn’t ask the reason for my visit. I told the triage nurse who was behind her that I left another facility because the wait was long 15+ ppl upon entering Emory saint joseph I only seen 6 ppl. Instead of her welcoming me she tells me that “ the wait here is long too”. I told her ok that’s fine it doesn’t look like it.she goes “ well it is the same thing here “ I said do you want me to leave? Because at that point she was making me feel like I was unwanted. She continued to say something but I proceeded to sit in the waiting area 4 people came after me 30- to 40 mins later she then triaged all of them before me and sent them to a room. I eventually spoke up when I noticed she was doing it out of spite due to our previous encounter, and she told me that the other ppl were here for emergency reasons. I said well that’s not fair to say being that you guys don’t know why I’m here nor have you took my vitals so how would you know. I’m still here in the waiting room 2 hours later when everyone who came after me was taken to a room. Now instead of drawing my blood she’s gossiping with the front desk agent. I will never come to this hospital again I feel horrible & my pain is beyond a 10 I vomited twice before my arrival and once here.I’m literally in tears I came to the emergency room for help not to be mistreated. I really wish I would’ve read the reviews before coming here.I asked for a supervisor and I don’t even think one was called for me. She skipped me again while I was typing! I asked for her name she turned her badge around and refused and her coworker in the front told me she can’t give it to me and that I would have to get it from her. So inserted a picture of her she’s the African lady with dreads who does triage she wears long socks and dresses and limps when she walks. I’ll be reporting her as well!

Best hospital in Atlanta. Always a private room once you get back. Thorough testing and communication. They always give referrals when you leave so you know where to go next.

Pretty bad… ER waiting 5 hours on a very emergency bleeding wound .
Second time , following up with the wound after 5 days got infected because they didn’t prescribe the right antibiotics (or maybe because the waited to long to take care of the wound the first time)
Got admitted to get IV antibiotics.
IV line texh took 6 hours to come, time for the antibiotic had passed already they said the only have one IV tech for 200 patients.
We will never comeback.
On top of their ugly, old and super small bedrooms, shower doesn’t even have a chair or a bench for patients to sit and take a shower, nurses are not friendly or kind and take long time to come if you need any help.
