Since Grady first opened in 1892, we have continually reinvented ourselves to meet the region’s evolving medical needs.
In the 1890s, that meant providing the same quality of care for rich and poor, black and white. In the 1920s, it meant performing Georgia’s first open-heart surgery. In 2013, it meant creating the first neurological surgical suite within a dedicated stroke center to remove blood clots from the brains of stroke victims. Tomorrow, it will be something we can barely imagine.
You may know Grady as one of the nation’s best trauma centers. We save people who’ve been severely hurt in car accidents, industrial mishaps, and other trauma incidents, 24/7. But there’s another side to us. The side that heals disease, cares for burns, corrects injuries, treats sniffles.
Our physicians, who are on the faculties of Emory and Morehouse medical schools, provide Grady patients with unparalleled care in specialties like cancer, urology, cardiology, neurology, and chronic disease – as well as the more routine, like family medicine and senior care. And we provide this care at Grady Hospital, the Correll Pavilion, and through six (soon to be eight) facilities inside and outside of the Perimeter.
Whatever the need, Grady fulfills it – even as we continue to raise the bar for medical care in the region. The world’s leading physicians come to Grady to practice here, teach here, and save patients whose conditions are beyond the capabilities of other hospitals.
But at Grady, we do more than save lives. We give our patients the chance to live them to the fullest.

TOP important and interesting reviews from patients
- My Husband went to ER on October30,2023, due to chest Pains. He was there for over 7 hours before they decided to admit him. I will say from the ER to the staff on the 5th floor they were amazing. Due to the fact they see so many patients and do not turn anyone away I understand how it can be overwhelming. I think they need more staff due to the amount of patients they see. I was disappointed that I was not able to stay with him past 8:00. At the end of the Day the staff that worked on my Husband was Great. The Male nurse in the ER name Ken was Amazing and very Knowledgeable.
- Jamya S. In registration is the most professional staff members I came in to contact with. She’s so nice and she so sweet. She has such a caring spirit. She made me feel so much better before I even saw the doctor
- Grady Hospital saved my brother life. He was care flighted there, spent 1 week in ICU and was on the 6th floor for 2 weeks. Doctors, nurses and CNA's were top notch and professional. Feels like I made lots of friends and am forever grateful for his outcome. Thanks to everyone cause all you guys are wonderful. Thanks from Ohio
