They fell to a D rating on the biannual safety ratings. This is a for profit hospital and it is very apparent they are putting profit ahead of patients.
I was brought in by city ambulance so I didn’t have an option to go to a better hospital. Attached is a picture of the extremely uncomfortable bed and the safety grades.

Please please please do not go to this hospital. I went in an ambulance and they had to take me there cause it was closest to my house… They said i probably had a minor stroke a TIA . I’m 30…. they gave me anxiety meds without running any brain exams or tests. Just sent me on my way and told me to follow up with neuro.

Extremely terrifying!

It’s also dirty and smells awful. It should be shut down. Staff literally lollygagged around deciding over who had to go handle the code blue up stairs… Hopefully that person made it, but I’d be surprised at the pace I saw then moving.

I would never in my life trust anyone in this hospital to treat me again. This guy (not sure of his title cause he never said who he was) couldn’t even give me a proper IV and i knew he couldn’t because I’ve gotten a million in my life and he didn’t even set my arm up properly. Of course he blew the vien. I’ve always had a specific person do my EKG from whatever department that is, the same guy to do my IV did my EKG. He also made me take my entire top off to put the tabs on my chest for an EKG which i have NEVER had to do before…

Stay away from this place.

This was my first experience in this hospital. And it's unbelievable the way they conduct their operations in this emergency room. You try to talk to them, and they are ignorant

I think this hospital has gone through like a whole rebrand and has new staff and such. It is VERY outdated and feels a little eerie at times (mainly because at times the hospital feels so empty lol I’m used to hospitals feeling busy) my first visit there I thought I was in the wrong place but I’ve had nothing but good experiences in my 3-5 visits here.

I have been here on multiple occasions within the last few months as my doctor works through this hospital.

I got an outpatient procedure in May and the staff was great, they were efficient and got me in and out in a timely matter. They listened to my concerns and I felt comfortable.
Most recently my interactions have been with Jill, she is apart of the new hope weight loss portion of the hospital. She’s been VERY sweet and accommodating.
I had a hefty list of things to get done at my list visit, labs ekgs X-rays and such, I was smoothly transitioned to each area by a nurse and had no wait time. I was done with everything in less than and hour and I expected to be there a long time as we all know doctor visits take forever. The radiology staff even went out of their way to help me with my tricky jewelry as it got stuck in my hair and was a whole mess lol I have felt comfortable with all of the staff/nurses/doctors who I have interacted with here. Yes the facility is older and a bit dingy but the care I’ve received has never been in question.

Told to come in at 6:30 a.m. for a 45 minute procedure. At 7:15 we were told within the hour! Finally at 10:15 they come to take husband up to surgery. I'm waiting and waiting. At noon I go ask. They call surgery and say he hasn't gone in yet. He's next. I've been expecting him over an hour ago. I decide to go home 45 minutes away to take care of my dogs and come back. He's finally ready to go home at 3:00 p.m.!!!! Nobody could have communicated any of that with me. Why r we there at 6:30 if they don't take him till 1 p.m. and the ac was terrible on the hottest day of the year. Terrible way to handle a surgery. Never going back also while looking out window I see two cars from staff parking in "parking for emergency patients only"!! I couldn't believe they would take emergency spaces from patients for their whole shift! They have a free parking garage!

There was no air conditioning in the ER. All staff and patients were sweating profusely. I asked if they had a fan or something, they said no. Chicago was hitting record breaking temperatures this week, over 100. I escaped hospital and it was still cooler outside with breeze. It was 114 degrees outside and still cooler. I felt like I was going to pass out inside the emergency department. I escaped the hospital when I was already petitioned. They never asked if I wanted ice water. They only gossiped about patients and I heard them making many medical mistakes. I’m a medical professional and scared to go here. Try to avoid this place If possible. They did have a doctor and nurse that were really nice. They couldn’t catch me though.

The staff was very rude and the hospital was extremely dirty.
No disinfectant or antibiotic ointment was provided or applied whatsoever for my laceration at the ER.
The lobby was practically empty but somehow it took over 2 hours to have someone see us. The whole experience was a nightmare. I wouldn't come back if I was dying and this was the nearest hospital.
Do not take your loved ones here.

My mom been in and out of the hospital for two days. They won’t really give her answers on what’s wrong. Her ear is completely closed. Put an IV in her arm in the hallway and she hasn’t had a room since she’s been here She’s got there at 3 AM and it’s 9 AM currently and still no answers she was complaining that her IV hurt and they refused to take it out of her !!!! This hospital is very very unprofessional . THIS HOSPITAL NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN!!!!! and most of the people working should lose their license to practice!!!

How is this place open? This “hospital” is beyond deplorable and I cannot fathom how the state of IL is allowing for this place to be open.
My father was taken here (by ambulance and only because it was the closest hospital) due to a fall. He is a stage 4 pancreatic cancer patient, a senior citizen. The ER was horrible. There was a woman in the bathroom for an hour washing her hair, maybe her body. Security was called.
I was finally allowed to go back only to walk into an area that is falling apart, how is it allowed to be a room where patients lay when cabinets are missing doors, and room seems to be used to store things? Random bags, stools, random stuff all over…
ER area is filthy, looks beyond unsafe snd unsterile. I honestly felt bad for the doctor for having to work there as it is clear he and any other doctor there is not able to provide the care that they are taught to provide. My father had tests done and was being discharged. A medi car had to be arranged for him and the hospital was supposed yo give us a 30min heads up… which was not given. I made it to his home just in time to meet the medi car that was dropping him off and he was discharged without clothes, in a bedsheet soiled with his urine, shivering cold with bare feet. Nurses and doctors treated someone like this?! He came in there (I was there) with full clothes and shoes. How is this allowed to happen?! I called and was told “all I could do is apologize”…

If zero stars were a thing I would give it. I hate this place. The staff is so rude, they forced me to give blood and urine without presenting any documentation upon my request. They are not caring and very unkind. I hope that no one ever comes here again because these people are not doing any service to help anyone. These people do not deserve jobs.

An employee remarked that they would celebrate their birthday this week with coke and the other individual involved attempted to pretend snorting cocaine. This is highly unprofessional and insensitive in the healthcare setting. Cocaine has ruined lives and medical staff should not be joking about it and taking it so lightly. The young staff appears to be a disgrace to the population they are intended to serve.

UPDATE: I was forcibly sedated and told that I have no rights after attempting to walk out. They then transferred me to Loretto Hospital where I spent nine days against my will. See my review on Loretto Hospital next.

Such a terrible hospital. Went to the emergency room after being bit by a dog, gushing blood and had to wait 2hrs for them just to put saline solution in the hallway. THE HALLWAY OF THE HOSPITAL! They let me go home and then give me a call to come back to get a shot because they were in a rush. Would never recommend!

Going to the hospital is already a stressful experience to say the least. Multiple experiences I've had at the ER, in addition to f/u appts have been phenomenal. Thank you to ALL the providers/workers at Community First Medical Center, I sincerely appreciate YOU!

If I could give a zero I would! This is the worst hospital I’ve ever seen. Working in healthcare myself I’ve never seen anything like this. The staff here are sooo rude I mean extremely rude.

I am compelled to express my profound disappointment with the level of care and professionalism displayed at this medical facility. My experiences here have raised serious questions about the hospital's adherence to its medical oath and commitment to patient well-being.

On multiple occasions, I have arrived at the hospital in the midst of severe anxiety attacks, transported by paramedics due to my proximity to the facility. Despite the critical nature of my condition, the overall environment in the hospital has only exacerbated my symptoms.

Upon arrival, I was met with a lack of urgency or genuine concern from the staff. The waiting area was not only overcrowded, rendering me unable to find a seat, but it was also disorganized and visibly unclean. These conditions forced me into a corner, heightening my anxiety to the point of experiencing an attack right on the waiting room floor.

To add to my dismay, I was witness to a confrontational dispute between members of the nursing staff. This altercation occurred in a patient care area, making it wholly inappropriate and deeply unsettling for those of us who were already suffering.

I urge the hospital administration to treat this feedback with the utmost seriousness. Immediate and comprehensive reforms are necessary to bring the facility up to the standards expected of a medical institution charged with the responsibility of public health.

This place is terrible they lie about test results, they are not transparent or trust worthy, the social workers are a joke. The head nurse is a disgusting human who has no business being a nurse. They are going to have a nice lawsuit on their hands. This is a disgusting place and should be closed down. Terrible all around it is clear why they are not accredited!

I cannot get over how AMAZING Dr Tiesenga and his staff are at community first medical center. I had sleeve surgery Aug 17th, and within 5 weeks his nurse Christina caught onto gallbladder problems that I was having and ordered the proper tests to diagnose that I had gallstones and that it be removed. Nov 2nd (today) I had my 2nd surgery with Dr Tiesenga and to say I’m in complete awe is an understatement. From the second I walked in to the second I left his team took care of me like one of their own. Upon discharge his nurse Sherri went as far as walking me down to the pharmacy across the street and made sure that I had gotten all required medications. Dr Tiesenga and his entire staff have changed my outlook at life, and have been amazing. Anyone considering having surgery done by him please don’t hesitate! He will make sure you are very well taken care of!!
