Avis Car Rental Chicago North Loop-Downtown (CH1)

November 18th, 2023 I was out of town in Chicago with an Avis rental and the tire pressure light came on. I was a little concerned because it was reading really low. I Google mapped this location which was closing within 5 minutes. I pulled into the garage and explained the situation to a young African American lady who told another employee by the name of CHARLES. He explained my party would have to get out of the car to take it to a lower level and he fixed the problem without any complaints because it was time for him to go. Sadly another employee a Caucasian female was having a whole other seriously rude loud and belligerent fit slamming things and yelling at this Asian couple so badly, I was embarrassed for them. Screaming she wasn't doing overtime and they have 3 minutes to get out she don't want to hear nothing they have to say. Just horrible! ( I would like to reiterate CHARLES saved the day and helped me, even in the middle of chaos. Just a few moments of his time.)5 stars would have been my review but 1 out of control employee can ruin a business.

This was the easiest car rental I’ve ever had. From pick up to drop off, all of the staff were friendly and helpful.

What an awful experience. I'm a frequent car renter and between the long wait times, fuel charges (on vehicles returned on FULL), poor roadside assistance, I've got to avoid AVIS at all cost in the future. Keep your receipts for everything-- it is all you have!!

Their rentals are very competitive. BUT customers at the North Clark St office have to wait for cars frequently. The wait can be 15-30 minutes or more. These cars are coming from their MDW or ORD locations. They need to be smarter at managing this operation.
Update on 12/26/2023: when I picked my car on 12/24, I had to wait about one hour, a new record. Why doesn't Avis have enough cars at this location to match its number of reservations?
The good news is that we can now reserve an EV.
