New update: Husband still off work from simple 12 week recovery surgery in June of 21. Last surgery in September of 22 and the area has not closed yet. Released from orthopedic care as he is "recovered ". Has now seen a spine specialist, plastic surgeon, and neurologist to try to find the source of Nerve damage that causes drop foot he woke up with after his 4th surgery. Still no answers, still can't walk as well as he did pre surgery. I previously forgot to add that he was let to knowingly walk around with a dislocated hip from March of 2022 until September of 2022. The only reason that he even got the surgery in September is because I had to follow a very long chain of command to get it pushed through. They were going to make him wait until December knowing that he had a dislocated hip which is of itself a medical emergency. They still let him walk around and in fact complimented him on how well he walked with the dislocated hip. I'll never give Ohio State or any of its hospitals another cent of our money.
Edit to update:
DO NOT RECOMMEND. Nothing but trouble from day 1. 18 months after our first visit and my husband ended up with FIVE total hip replacements and a bevy of complications from each one. He is worse now than he was before 1st surgery. Lost mobility, has permanent nerve damage, lost his job because of time off work. Can't even return to work in his current condition doing what he did before. If you love you family or self do not use this organization.
Absolutely horrible waiting time. I would describe the actual treatments and staff if I had made it into the hospital. My husband has been waiting now 8 EIGHT HOURS to make it past the waiting room. By waiting room I mean outside because there were people everywhere. The entire time we were there in those 8 hours I saw maybe 10 people taken back. Not very impressive from such a large hospital.

Look up the serial killer doctor Michael Swango and his time at the Ohio State University Medical Center. People deserve to know how OSU handled the situation pertaining to Michael Swango. The New York Post wrote a decent article about it.

It is a load of b.s. my Mom is there. She got taken there by an ambulance Thursday evening. On my way there, the er doctor called me to ask me what kind of medication she was on. I wasn't sure. I found out the medication they were asking about after calling my Aunt. I go into the ER entrance and they were going to have me wait. After about 20 minutes I went over and told them about the question that was asked to me and the information that I had. They finally told how to get to where she was. Now yesterday I received 2 different calls about her. The second one called me on my way there. I answered the questions. I get to the main hospital I go to the desk and they couldn't find her. They told me to go back to the er where she came in. I walked all the way to the er entrance. They looked in the computer and they told me she got moved to the Brain and Spine Wing. I walk all the way back to Brain and Spine wing. Talk to someone who was really trying to help. They couldn't find her. They told me if a squad brings in someone who really isn't that responsive they give them a code name. She told me the code name. I go up to the floor she is on and they couldn't find her. It took several minutes of digging to finally to get her room number. Now just about 10 to 15 minutes ago I tried calling to get connected through her rooms phone number. I told the very rude operator her name and he said that she isn't in the system. I tried the code name and he said he couldn't find it. It really sounded like he didn't want to help me find her. The customer service needs to get better. So how long does it take for information to be updated?? She has been there since Thursday evening and her name isn't updated yet? This really makes me not want to come back to OSU main again.

The emergency department is by far the worst in the city. The staff is rude. The wait is painstakingly long. Plan on waiting 5 to 10 hours. And don't bother asking the front desk any questions cause they won't answer them.

The people that answer the oral surgery emergency and the scheduling number both are rude. I'm thinking I have cancer and they're talking down to me while I'm asking how the process works to get seen. This place has always been awful to me.

I am giving this one star simply because giving zero isn't an option. I have been to this hospital with my girlfriend on multiple occasions now and each time has been a mess. The most current visit being right now... It has taken over three days for her to get admitted into a real room from the ER. She was here for a total of 8 hours in a bed without receiving pain medications when she was here for a migraine. She has since been give TYLENOL for the past 2 days... good thing we didn't just take her to CVS instead! She was left without an active nurse last night and is getting ready to spend her second night in the ER. The least of our worries is that she can't even fit in the bed and she is 5 foot 4- but thought it should mention it anyways. I would recommend going to Riverside or your local over the counter pharmacy instead.

We received excellent care. It's a very large facility with all types of care and services available. Most of the staff are friendly, helpful, and professional. It is a teaching hospital so it is very busy and parking and navigation can be challenging. All areas we've been to have been clean and serviceable. The main cafeteria is very good with many options. Do pay attention to the building names as Rhodes and Doan are separate, but connected internally.
