Picking up is always a breeze with the amazing customer service you receive from the staff. Timing is always excellent and the process to pick up your rental is super simple. Vehicle selection always comes with multiple options. Always clean inside and out. Low miles and very well taken care of vehicles. The rates are unbeatable when matched with the 10 percent back as an Amazon gift card and the cash back you receive for using a credit card. No matter if I’m picking up or dropping off the staff always greets me with a smile and treats me like family no matter where you are. I would recommend Avis because of customer service, price, and convenience.


Bonus, you may get lucky and get a brand new rental with less than 10 miles. It does happen and has happened to me. Avis also recently added the option to split payments either by dollar amount or itemized. The Avis app has amazing features like finding your car. Or checking the gas after parking. Avis is the best in the business.

I prepaid for a one day rental from Iowa to Kentucky. I got the car about 9 central time and returned it at 10:08 eastern (9:08 central). I was charged $208 in addition to the original charge. Upon speaking with customer service, the additional fee was cut in half. This is still high for a surcharge.

To start, my reservation start time wasn't correct. I was flying into DSM and scheduled to land at midnight. I noticed that the rental counter closed at midnight, so I called several times to notify the agents of my arrival time and check to see if I'd be able to get the car.

I called several times, with no answer. I left a message explaining the situation and didn't get a call back. Fortunately, when I arrived, there was an agent at the counter. I explained that while I was relieved she was there (so I could get the car), that the uncertainty caused me a lot of stress.

She said that she saw my name come up on the phone display, but that as a matter of practice, they don't answer the phone. And she even joked that I was quite persistent.

Terrible customer service.

I've never been so disgusted with a company in my life. I rented a car online and prepaid for it with my chime banking account. Traveled an hour to get the car which cost me 100 dollars. Only to find out they don't take chime banking cards as a deposit and there was nothing they could do to help me since I only had chime banking. They wouldn't accept anyone else's card unless they were here in person. I am having an emergency in a state I don't know, and the person behind the desk couldn't even get up from her seat to help me.They had an attitude as if I was bothering them with my questions when I was asking for help. The supervisor rolled her eyes at me and acted as if I was bothering her. They then watched me bawl my eyes out and offered zero assistance. I explained to them that I was having a crisis far from home and needed help. I had several family members offer to help pay with an acceptable credit card but they refused. No where on their website did it state that they do not take chime banking cards. The worst part is they allowed me to pay the $255 on my chime banking card, and then tried to keep that money due to a short notice cancelation. Thankfully, after calling customer service and begging, they agreed to give me my money back.
