Jersey City, 1 American Dream Wy, East Rutherford, NJ 07073

If you’re driving through East Rutherford, you literally cannot miss American Dream. It is way more than just a shopping center; it’s a massive entertainment universe that feels like a city under one roof. While most people think of it as a mall, locals know it as the place where you can go skiing in the morning and hit a water park in the afternoon without ever stepping outside. It is the perfect destination for those "what should we do today?" moments when the weather in Jersey isn't cooperating.

The sheer scale of the attractions is what really sets this place apart. You have the Nickelodeon Universe theme park and the DreamWorks Water Park, which are both world-class, but the real hidden gem is Big SNOW, the country's first indoor real-snow ski resort. It’s a trip to see people walking around in shorts and then seeing others heading in with full ski gear. Beyond the thrills, the retail section is equally impressive, featuring a mix of massive flagship stores like Zara and H&M alongside the ultra-high-end "The Avenue" wing with brands like Saks Fifth Avenue.

Food is another major draw here, and they’ve moved far beyond the basic food court. You can find everything from quick bites to upscale dining, including the first MrBeast Burger physical location and the impressive Coca-Cola Eats food hall. Whether you are looking for a high-end meal at a place like Carpaccio or just want to grab some bizarrely delicious candy at IT’SUGAR (which is three stories tall!), you won't leave hungry.

What makes it a great local spot is the sheer variety of things to do that don't involve shopping. There’s an NHL-sized ice rink, an indoor mini-golf course, and even a massive ferris wheel called the Dream Wheel that gives you incredible views of the Manhattan skyline. It’s easy to navigate considering its size, and there is plenty of parking, though it’s a good idea to remember which zone you parked in. It’s a reliable, high-energy part of the 07073 area that offers something for literally everyone in the family.

Expert Opinions

Retail and entertainment analysts often point to American Dream as the future of "retailtainment" due to its unique balance of commerce and leisure.

Innovative Integration: Industry experts from Chain Store Age highlight the complex for its ability to drive foot traffic through massive attractions rather than just traditional anchor department stores.

Architectural Feat: Design critics often note the impressive engineering required to house a full-scale water park and ski slope within a single structure, creating a climate-controlled environment that functions year-round.

Economic Impact: Market analysts view American Dream as a major economic engine for Bergen County, noting its role as a significant employer and a primary driver for regional tourism outside of New York City.

Estimated Prices

Because American Dream offers so many different experiences, your spending can range from a window-shopping trip to a full-day adventure:

Attraction Tickets: Entry to major parks like Nickelodeon Universe or DreamWorks Water Park typically ranges from $59–$99 depending on the day and age of the visitor.

Dining: Fast-casual meals usually cost between $15–$25, while sit-down dining at the upscale restaurants can range from $40–$75 per person.

Activities: Smaller attractions like the Dream Wheel or mini-golf generally fall in the $20–$30 range.

Parking: Standard parking is usually around $5, though it can vary during special events at the nearby MetLife Stadium.

Business Hours

American Dream is open daily, though individual attraction hours may vary slightly:

Monday – Thursday: 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM

Friday – Saturday: 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM

Sunday: 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM (Note: Theme park and water park hours are sometimes staggered, so it's worth checking their specific calendars if you're going for the rides.)

Went to Big Snow at American Dream—weekday experience was great, barely anyone there so you can go up and down pretty freely. But weekends are a completely different story, it gets super crowded and the wait times really kill the vibe.

A 1 hour and 45 minute drive isn’t enough to keep me away from this place. Many shops to choose from for people of all ages, many different options for food and activities. It’s a great place to stop and shop or just make a pit stop on your way through New Jersey.

Had went to this big mall with some friends, along with my husband as something of a little trip. We had browsed some stores such as, Bandai, Ebisu, The Gameroom by Hasbro Arcade, Hot Topic, along with some others. After a little while, we all had decided to get lunch from Jolibee's, (yes, the Pilipino fast food restaurant, that I had suggested we go to, considering I had never tried it). Lol!

I have previously visited this mall before with another friend of mine back when Covid was going on, (we ended up visiting the Nickelodeon Amusement Park and had much fun). Moreover, if I were you and had never visited the American Dream Mall, I would go on ahead to plan your trip there in East Rutherford, New Jersey!

A fun place to spend a day or two, especially if you are coming to enjoy the amusement park, water park, ski slope and any other of the assortment of activities found here. There's a lot of walking involved so bring your walking shoes. There's many choices of food and stores that you don't usually find in typical malls.
