- Shuttle bus seats are red too))) and very sod with cushions))) rental car assistant was very nice and kind. Fortunately, there was no line when we got here, and we got our car in a minute. The car we got was new and spacious, clean with no smell. Some rental cars have specific smell sometimes, even if it a newer car. Hopefully our was not.

- Were the lines long? Sure. Despite them being short staffed I was taken care of. The first car I was given had the maintenance service lights on turn shortly after I left the lot and Ms. Jeet was gracious to upgrade my vehicle to something better when I returned the next day. Thank you Ms. Jeet for your great customer service.

This review is for the Detroit airport location.

I left a coat in the car upon return. I noticed after I left, but came back 21 minutes later and it was no where to be found. Whether somebody threw it away or took it for themselves either option is bad for Avis. Being a corporate renter I will absolutely be reporting this to my company. I am also a Presidents Club Member and the staff at the location from the front desk, to the people checking in the cars to the cleaners and bus drivers could not have cared less.

Also, I received a vehicle that had over 70,000 miles on it was dirty on the inside and smelled. This is the only location where a car is not ready for me but I have to stand in a line to get keys. This place is totally unacceptable.

Edit:

After being asked to contact the social media team I have gotten no where. Exclusively renting with Avis, being a Presidents Club member does not mean anything. Thier response was very unhelpful just like all of the employees at this location. I hope that whoever took my jacket out of the car puts it to good use. Classic Detroit.

Worse experience I had with rentals in a while. Reserved the car through a third party and they choose Avis. Pick up time was good and I didn’t have to wait a long time but the car I got was horrible. It was the middle of the night so I couldn’t see how dirty it was and the damage on the exterior. Once I started driving to Lansing from DTW the car began to vibrate and once the rain started, the wipers were useless due to being old (car had 75,000 miles). I barely made it to Lansing through the rain. When I called Avis in Detroit, I was not able to get anyone on the line because their automated system does not work. Finally got ahold of roadside assistance and they told me to go to Lansing regional airport location and exchange the car. Well… the car I got there was 10x times worse. It smelled of some and was just as dirty as the first one. It had 94,000 miles and the suspension was beat up. The car responded to any road imperfection by pulling the car either right or left. The car also had visible damage on the outside. Also, the lady at the Lansing location spoke to me as if she’s doing me a favor, completely disregarding the fact that these cars are not only filthy, but unsafe to drive. In any case, I am stuck with this car for another several days until my return day. I will NOT be using Avis again and I recommend the same to others.

Unfortunately I have to give it one star the last three trips to DTW for absolutely horrific trying to get my rental vehicle I am an Avis preferred member and you would think the app would work but it doesn't. The last time we were there a couple months ago got to the preferred section the mobile app did not work there were no cars ready it took around 3 hours from the time the bus drop us off till the time we got the vehicle not the one we even reserved. I will be trying this again in two more weeks and they will either win me back as a customer or they will make me permanently not a customer. That is all up to Avis waiting to see how it goes.
