- Wow, this was the fastest and most seamless car rental service I have ever had!!

I booked my rental through Costco (for the best dealsss) the night before, arrived at the HNL airport CONRAC area (around 3:20PM) with all the car rental companies, walked past the AVIS room full of customers without reservations, and went up the escalator to the AVIS preferred counter on level 4. I told the agent my name, gave him my driver’s license and credit card, then he told me the location of my rental car. And… that was literally it!! I walked to my unlocked car with the key inside, and got a text with a link to the exit QR code which I used to scan to get out of the lot (there is also someone there to assist who was very nice). The whole thing felt like it took a minute! The car was also clean and exactly as described! I have no qualms and would definitely rent again from AVIS! 10/10 Highly recommend!

- Quick, easy simple process really enjoyed newer vehicles too for late arrival when others were fully unavailable with their bookings. AVIS saved the day with our time zone change & late arrival to Hawaii!

Upon pick up at the Honolulu airport, the lady at that counter was rude. I was the only one in the line up. Her first words were, "i'm busy!". That was the "perfect" aloha! She was grumpy and obviously didn't like her job. Maybe she should find another job. I wish I got her name. However, she is a middle aged unapologetic woman working the Dec. 8 shift around 10:30pm. I thought Hawaiians were supposed to be more relaxed, but I met one that wasn't. My encounter with Avis so far hasn't been the best in any city- Honolulu, Ottawa, and Toronto. Also, I want to know where the difference lies in between the estimated price and the actual amount I'm paying. For some reason, I am being charged an extra $80.00 and I don't know why. The estimated receipts and actual receipts doesn't itemize the charges to audit the changes in charges.
Upon checking out, things were fast. The staff receiving the vehicles were efficient and fast.

Rented a ‘mystery car’ with Avis for 12 days in Honolulu. Great price relative to other companies. We were happy we didn’t have to wait in long line ups to receive our car on arrival like some other rental companies. We ended up with a 5.0litre mustang. The check in and out process was seamless. Would recommend based our our experience.

Be careful when renting with Avis in Hawaii to ensure you get a vehicle that has a current safety sticker on it…I received a ticket MCB Kaneohe because of an expired one. Also the car probably wouldn’t have passed an inspection as it was missing a right front wheel lug nut.

My experience with AVIS was my worst one in all my 35 yrs of renting cars on vacation. The people in Honolulu were the most unscrupulous and unfriendly people, worked at their own pace, gossiping among themselves while there were long queues of customers waiting…..I got my car about 2 hrs later, got overbilled and spent even more time dealing with untrained customer service reps on the phone. I sincerely wish AVIS goes bankrupt and is replaced by a new age rental company.

Nice Car and ok service, pick up was well not Preferred? 20 people had there names on the board with locations, ours was not there the attendant says its my first time so no name I wont say how long and how many rentals but..........took extra time to arrange my Preferred rental not what i expected, Return was easy with no confusion

Avis lots seem to run as autonomous companies based on which country they are based in. There seems to be very little in common practices and procedures. My current experience in Hawaii was as follows:

1. The car options I booked included GPS which showed as available but when I got to the lot, the staff told me that no car has that option. This meant I needed international data options to get to places.
2. There was no check performed for scratches or dents on the car when I exited the lot. I had to take my own video and pictures.
3. When I came to return the car, the staff just told me to leave the keys on the dash and leave. I took my pictures and video in case, and sure enough I got no receipt nor acknowledgedment that I had returned the car until I called in 24 hrs after complaining that the rental still showed as 'active' under my name.

I do realize that the location i.e., the international airport and the date, Dec 25 played a factor but the service is supposed to run 24/7 at that location and practices like that can lead to big issues e.g., an accident happening after I had handed possession to the staff can be charged to me as technically they did not end the rental.
