Swiss consulate in New York provided outstanding service during my parents' visa application process. We are beyond happy!
Firstly, they are professional. The whole application is quite streamlined, starting from the instructions, list of required paperwork, to online application form filling and online payment, to the appointment making system and final interview. My friend just applied with another Schengen member country, he said they did not have a clear list so he needed to add stuff after interview (luckily he was not in a rush), he could not even find how much the fee is and had to google, and he had to get a money order (or certified check) from the bank so no online payment.
Secondly, they are efficient. After our appointments were made, I realized that we might be in a big trouble as we planned another international trip that'd be less than 10 days after the interview. If we did not get the passports back in time, my parents would have to miss the trip. Guess what, on the 3rd business day after the interview we received the passports+visa. Very impressed! (but please do not count on this information to make your plans. On their website, it's said that reviewing and making the visa will take up to 15 days if it's not a complicated case)
Lastly, the staff were kind and responded promptly to my quite a few email inquires which relieved a lot of my stress from pressing time. When I wanted to make an interview appointment I noticed that the earliest slot was already our fly out date to Europe. I emailed them and was suggested to keep refreshing the page and cancellation happens almost daily. And luckily it was so!
Due to my sluggish planning, the visa application was nerve wrecking to begin with. Swiss consulate made things happen and our experience could not be better, so I feel obligated to post a good review to express my gratitude.

It was such a smooth experience applying for Schengen visa here. Staff is friendly and as long as you have all the required documents as listed on the site, you’d be good. We weren’t asked many questions and were done under 30 mins. If you forget to bring in a prepaid envelope(like we did), no worries! You can purchase UPS label online and just email the PDF to them.

The favorability of my experience does not match that of the other reviewers. The website explicitly stated that if one's biometrics were completed and their Schengen visa approved within the past 59 months, they could submit their application via mail. My previous Schengen visa was approved and biometrics were taken within that time frame. I even took time off work to have my paperwork notarized, incurring significant costs, and sent in all the required documents. However, one week later, my application was returned, stating that my biometrics could not be copied and requesting that I schedule an appointment. Despite my attempts to contact them via phone, no one answered, and after persistent emails, they informed me that no appointment slots were available. The fact that they made no effort to explain why my biometrics couldn't be copied or accommodate an appointment due to this issue indicates a lack of dedication to supporting applicants, as many of you have previously mentioned. I urge you to save your time and seek alternative options.
