The food is good but obviously it’s to be expected to be more expensive and though there was enough places to sit, it is very very crowded. So just keep that in mind when going, because lines are quite long.

Smorgasburg in Williamsburg is one of the most exciting and fun outdoor food markets in New York City. From the moment you arrive, the energy hits you — colorful stalls, hungry crowds, the smell of delicious food in every direction, and Brooklyn’s skyline just beyond. It’s the kind of place that feels unmistakably NYC: diverse, creative, and full of flavor.

What makes Smorgasburg special is the variety. You can try everything from wood-fired pizza and gourmet tacos to handmade pastries, Asian-inspired bites, vegan comfort foods, and inventive desserts you didn’t even know existed. Every vendor brings something different to the table, and every few steps gives you a new taste sensation. I loved being able to sample small bites from multiple vendors in one visit — it’s like a food adventure in one space.

The outdoor setup adds a vibrant, social atmosphere. People grab picnic tables, friends share food, live music often plays nearby, and the mood feels casual and joyful. It’s a perfect spot to hang out with friends, go on a food date, or simply stroll and snack your way through the offerings.

A few practical notes:

Go hungry! Portions are generous, and there’s so much to try.

Arrive early if you want the most variety — popular vendors can sell out.

Bring cash or card — most vendors accept both, but it’s good to be prepared.

The location in Williamsburg also means you’re surrounded by shops, bars, and cafes, so it’s easy to turn Smorgasburg into a full day-out experience.

Overall, Smorgasburg Williamsburg is a must-visit for food lovers in NYC — diverse eats, amazing atmosphere, and a truly memorable culinary adventure.

The puerto Rican, Pakistani and Colombian spots are amazing!

Bar is great a bit expensive but good. I mean the food is good all around .

We got tacos and they were decent but the service was great. We got them super quick and there were plenty of vegetarian options available. The atmosphere, on the other hand, was terrible. It was very crowded and there was smoke everywhere making it very hard to see and breathe clearly.

First visit to Williamsburg Smorgasborg was 2015. It's grown greatly. Food options are great. They have an expanded eating area, a bar and bathroom options plus hand washing stations.

The area was exceptionally congested. The available space was limited, and the queue was extensive.

Very small with not too many options. The Smashburger stand and one of the seafood stands are the busiest so there were for sure be a long line through the day. There is a Columbian stand that sells really good arepas. Not too much space to really maneuver so be prepared to say excuse me a lot (depending on if you're arriving after 1pm).

Smorgasburg was a really cool idea like 12-15 years ago, a way to discover interesting and creative street cuisines, but now it seems like a bunch of junk food vendors charging high restaurant prices for tent food served while standing around in a crowded parking lot. Except unlike concession stands there’s no show, concert or extant reason to overcharge what would be an otherwise captive audience. Or maybe it was always like that
