- Soviet-like service experience, where customers have to take care of kids-spilled water by themselves.
The food is authentic, but not the best. Probably that’s why there were waiting line for the next-door Veselka, and no waiting for this one. It took more than 20 minutes to get the check, and I had to go to their desk to pay to speed it up.
- We came here about 1:30 on a Sunday so there was maybe a 20 minute wait for a table for two, and that’s to be expected because it’s a popular family restaurant. It’s a no frills place with really tasty authentic Ukrainian food, so although the interior is nothing to write home about, you will enjoy the grub! We had potato pierogi and potato pancakes with sour cream. . Server forgot the apple sauce and was overall not that attentive but in her favor , it was pretty busy. I would come here again but at a less busy time.
- Wonderful neighborhood place with lots of history and charm. And great borscht and goulash, and the best potato pancakes in town.
- Very nice. Good quality. Not very big portions so I will need to get some apps next time.
- Love coming here. It’s nice and quiet and feels like I’m somewhere far from nyc
- Long time goer of this establishment. A staple of the community. Many thanks to them and the people who make up it a wonderful experience .
- Food is just ok. The restaurant is really busy. Waitresses are not friendly. No smile at all. I didn’t like the Interior. Cheap and stereotypical. But the food isn’t expensive. So you get what you pay for.
- Great place! Very attentive staff, friendly and really helpful. Delicious comfort food and great draft beer. A truly cultural experience, highly recommended.
- I love this place. There can be a line around the block at Veselka and there will be plenty of empty seats here. I hate to expose the secret. I always take out-of-towners here. There is actually a huge ballroom above this place. They have more perogi choices than anyone. The only drawback is that this place is in the middle of the building, so there are no windows.
- This is one of my favorite restaurants in Manhattan. The decorations are very unique and authentically Ukrainian. Our waitress was very pleasant and attentive. The food was fantastic and very reasonably priced. I’ve been there numerous times with college buddies and we all loved it.
