The task of our diplomatic-consular mission is to protect the interests of, and provide services to, Italians when not on Italian soil. The services must be offered on the basis of equality, impartiality, efficiency and transparency, for the purpose of protecting Italian citizens and promoting respect for human rights and freedoms.

Services include assistance, for example, in cases of death, accident, serious illness, arrest or detention, acts of violence, assistance during serious crises (natural disasters, civil disorder, armed conflict, etc.) and the issuance of emergency travel documents in case of loss or theft.

Very professional and helpful consulate. My only advice is to thoroughly research the type of visa you are applying for and come fully prepared with all of the right documentation in order. You have to think, thousands of people try to game the system to enter Italy, so coming unprepared is wasting the time of both parties and won’t do you any favors!

I went to the Italian consulate in Los Angeles to obtain passports for my family and to register the births of my children. Despite the fact that I did not have all of the necessary documents, the representatives there were able to help me do everything necessary. I worked in particular with. Emanuela Cottu who went significantly out of her way to help me register the birth of my child. They are extremely professional and very thorough. I’m grateful to have such dedicated and kind people working at the consulate.

I’ve been to this office several times in person and lots of phone and email communication in preparation for my visits. Very helpful!

Very professional and serious people are here. I love that! Consulate business transactions are not something where you “wing-it”, show up prepared.
