H Mart Garden Grove

Located at 8911 Garden Grove Blvd, H Mart Garden Grove is a sprawling, 80,000-square-foot titan of the Orange County Asian grocery scene. As one of the largest and most established H Marts in Southern California, this location acts as a true "cultural flagship," offering a scale and variety that surpasses almost any other branch in the region.

The Garden Grove Highlights

The "Greens Heaven": This location is famous for a produce department that rivals a botanical garden. It stocks over 250 seasonal varieties, including hard-to-find items like Korean perilla leaves, chrysanthemum greens (shungiku), and baby bok choy marked specifically for home propagation (look for the small green stickers).

Massive 6-Station Food Court: The "Market Eatery" here is a regional draw, featuring table service during busy weekends. You’ll find everything from Jaws Topokki (spicy street food) and Paik’s Noodle to handmade kimchi pancakes and seasonal hotteok (sweet filled pancakes) during the winter months.

Specialized Gardening Section: Unique to this branch, you’ll find basic gardening tools and containers designed for customers who want to grow their own Asian herbs and vegetables at home—a nod to the local community’s green thumb.

The "Sushi-Grade" Standard: The seafood section is massive, featuring live tanks and a high-volume sashimi counter. It is widely considered the best spot in the city for sushi fish eggs, imitation crab, and high-quality raw fish platters that are prepared fresh throughout the day.

Expanded Housewares & Halal Section: Beyond the groceries, this store features a comprehensive kitchenware section and a dedicated area for halal-certified products, reflecting the diverse international community of Garden Grove.

Why It’s Unique

H Mart Garden Grove is defined by its sheer scale and community integration. While many H Marts are tucked into suburban plazas, this one feels like a landmark destination. It is significantly larger than the average branch (80,000 sq ft vs. the typical 50,000), allowing for wider aisles, more local product partnerships with Orange County producers, and a "mini-mall" atmosphere that includes skincare boutiques and high-end appliance stalls.

Insider Tip: Because this location is a major hub, it offers specialized services like shopping assistance for seniors and a dedicated nursing room. If you’re a fan of viral snacks, this is usually the first store in the area to stock new shipments of things like "Cheese Coins" or rare Lotte Pepero flavors.

Everything and anything you need, find it here for lower prices.

The only thing about HMart, everything is cramped in on shelves.

There was a wide variety of products, the environment was relatively clean, and the prices were more expensive than in Chinese supermarkets, but I was able to find what I wanted.

Bought some 3 mandarin bags at $3.99 for 2lbs bag. Two bags have mandarin that are either super over-ripe with very soft skins, or were mishandled by being crushed. I could see one or two mandarins getting soft but this is ridiculous. I peeled the skin and they are wet and juice leaking already. Inside the skins are alway wet. I live 40+ miles away, and this kind of thing seems to happen "every" time I shop here, and just because I happened to be nearby, I make same mistake of shopping at THIS particular H mart. I can't and will not go back to this H mart.
My purchase was made today 12/30/25 @1:11p.m. and the purchase amount is $73.42.

Clean. Great products. They have a wide selection of honey teas with ginger...big tasty strands of ginger! One teaspoon in a cup of hot water....and you have joy! So many types of vegetables and fruits that I do not understand yet. I am learning. Very very clean!

Don’t know why I always have issues at this location. Had this issue a few years back so I started going to the location in Buena Park instead and though I would give them a try again but I don’t think this location keeps their perishable in proper ways because this item has an expiration beyond 2024 and before even opening I see mold inside the noodles…ridiculous but I guess Ill have to go somewhere further…poor food management will kill someone one day..:.

very huge selection of items here. even sushi. restrooms require a code and are very dirty, and one time I came here 15min before close time and security did not let me in which is why I'm giving two stars. very unprofessional. if you close at a certain time you should honor your hours of service. don't forget to sign up for the rewards card.

Asian (specialized in Korean food) market offers very fresh and good ingredients. They have seafood live, fresh and frozen, marinated pork and beef, lots of banchan. Fresh fruits and veggies.
Big NOTE: it’s very cold in there, bring a jacket.

I feel my identity as an Asian when I spend almost 30 minutes searching through the camera because of a mistake on a receipt worth only 1 dollar.

Love this place. Bit pricey but it's stuff you can't get anywhere else!
