If you’re heading to the West Side, you can’t miss the Javits Center at 429 11th Ave. It’s basically a giant glass palace right on the edge of the Hudson River. For a long time, this part of town felt a bit like a "no man’s land," but now that Hudson Yards has grown up around it, the whole vibe has changed. It’s super easy to get to now—you just hop on the 7 Train to the 34th St-Hudson Yards stop and you’re practically at the front door.

Right now, the place is buzzing because the 2026 New York International Auto Show is in full swing. If you’re a car person (or just like looking at shiny things), it’s a total blast. They’ve got everything from those silent, high-tech electric SUVs to "hypercars" that look like they belong in a sci-fi movie. Even if you aren't there for a specific show, just walking through the building is cool because the new expansion has these massive, airy halls that don't make you feel like you're trapped in a basement like some other convention centers do.

One of the coolest things about the Javits Center that most tourists don't know is actually on the roof. They have a massive one-acre rooftop farm and orchard up there! They literally grow thousands of pounds of vegetables and even have their own beehives. If you’re at an event and you grab a salad or a meal from their "Cultivated" catering, there’s a good chance some of the ingredients were grown right above your head. Also, as a local who cares about the city's wildlife, it’s worth noting they replaced all the old glass with bird-friendly glass, so it's actually a sanctuary for local birds now instead of a hazard.

A quick tip from someone who’s spent way too many hours here: wear your most comfortable sneakers. The place is absolutely enormous—we’re talking millions of square feet—and you will definitely get your steps in. If you need a break, try to find a spot near the windows in the North Wing; the views of the Hudson River are actually some of the best in the city. It’s a great spot to just sit for a minute and watch the ferries go by while you charge your phone.

Javits Center Info & Hours

While the building's general administrative hours are usually 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, the actual hours depend entirely on what event is happening. For the 2026 Auto Show (April 3–12), the schedule is:

 Monday – Thursday: 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM

Friday & Saturday: 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM

Sunday: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM (Open Easter Sunday!)

Location: 429 11th Ave, New York, NY 10001 (Between 34th and 40th Streets).

Parking: It’s pricey in this area, so I highly recommend taking the subway or using a parking app like SpotHero if you absolutely have to drive.

Visited the Javits Center during JA New York event and left very impressed. The space is enormous, beautiful, and exceptionally well designed. The infrastructure, organization, and overall atmosphere were outstanding. It’s a world-class venue for exhibitions and large professional events.

Builders and Installer Show was great. Center was very clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Only drawbacks were price and quality of food. Food was expensive, even for New York. Portions were small. Quality wasn't even as good as a no star restaurant.

Convention center is located on the West side of NYC easy to get to by train. Take #7 to last stop one block away from Convention center. Make sure you give yourself extra time to get there it takes about 10 minutes to exit the train station it's several flights by excavator to get to street level. Javits center is well organized for the amount of people the serve.

Attending the International Esthetics event at Javits Center was such an inspiring experience.

As a licensed esthetician and owner of Baru Skin Care, I truly value spaces where we can continue learning, discovering new brands, and connecting with other professionals in the industry.

I had the opportunity to explore innovative products, attend educational sessions, and expand my knowledge — all of which I look forward to bringing back to my clients.

Grateful for events like this that continue to elevate our profession.

What a great and practical place ! We stumbled across this modern structure wondering what it was and we discovered it ! Our spirit of adventure didn’t disappoint us! Very good orientation, indications and you can use the toilets even as outsiders (if you’re sneaky enough haha) !

Cool building. Clean bathrooms. Lots of spots to eat and grab drinks on-site as well.

Always amazed by the size of this place. The only problem is like anything else in NYC. Parking. You either get lucky and walk 7-10 blocks. Or pay a near by garage which can run you over $40 just for a couple of hours. My advice, train into the city.
