If you’re walking through Dumbo and find yourself on Adams Street, you might notice a place that feels less like a typical New York restaurant and more like a high-energy dinner party in Tel Aviv. Malka, located at 56 Adams St, is the brainchild of celebrity chef Eyal Shani, and it has quickly become a cornerstone of the Brooklyn dining scene. It is a fully kosher establishment, but the vibe is so universal and the food so creative that it draws in everyone from local tech workers to families traveling from across the city. The space itself is gorgeous, featuring reclaimed wood floors from an old basketball gym and a salvaged vintage bar, giving it a rustic, lived-in feel that perfectly matches Shani’s "simple but genius" approach to Mediterranean cooking.

The menu at Malka is famous for being written in a way that feels almost like poetry, focusing on the "soul" of the ingredients rather than just a list of components. You’ll find dishes like the legendary Malka Schnitzel, which is golden and crispy on the outside but hides a surprise filling of creamy mashed potatoes—an absolute must-order that has gained a cult following. There are also Brooklyn-exclusive treats like the za’atar-dusted bureka "steak" and incredibly fresh, seasonal vegetable plates that celebrate the "stormy energy" of nature. Everything is doused in premium olive oil and served with fluffy, warm bread that is perfect for wiping your plate clean.

What really sets Malka apart is how the atmosphere shifts as the night goes on. During the early evening, it’s a polished and relaxed spot for a refined Mediterranean meal, but as the sun goes down, especially on Thursday nights, the music gets louder, the lights dim, and the whole place starts to buzz with a wild, infectious energy. It’s not uncommon to see the staff dancing or the entire room erupt into a sing-along, making it one of the few places in New York where you can get a world-class, kosher-certified meal and a legitimate party experience at the same time.

For anyone looking to host a group or just enjoy a unique date night in Brooklyn, Malka offers a dining experience that feels deeply personal and vibrant. Between the expertly crafted cocktails—like their tahini-infused espresso martini—and the wide selection of Israeli and French wines, it’s a place that honors tradition while completely breaking the mold of what a kosher restaurant can be. Whether you're there for the famous "bag of green beans" or the high-energy Tel Aviv vibes, you’re guaranteed to leave with a full stomach and a bit of that famous Mediterranean sunshine in your spirit.

I came here with my family, we were a party of 15 people! The service was great - thank you Noya and all the other staff! The food was delicious and the vibes were vibing!
The timing of everything was great, the staff came around often but we’re not overbearing at all, it was the perfect balance of coming around when we needed them and giving us our space to enjoy ourselves. Definitely worth every penny. My family is very picky and not one complaint.

Unfortunately did not love it. We dined here last night party of 5 none of the food had to much taste unfortunately. The spicy plate 3 different spicy sauces were not spicy at all. The shnitzel in the mashed potatoes was pretty sad. Every thing needed salt or flavor.

Staff was hit or miss some being great some being a bit stuffy. Our table was packed and we put somethings on the empty table next to us since we had so much food and got a bit of attitude from someone not our server. Idk i wanted to love it but it was a bit sad.

Best thing was the israeli music playing. Would not go back much much better options for israeli food hoping it was just an off night for them.

The rib steak wasn't a great piece of meat-price was ok.

Old city falafel dish, falafel balls 4/10, vegetables were cut on large cubes, hard to eat, some vegetables were unrecognizable, the waiter should have said what's what, baba genush was 4/10,price was not right for that dish.

when we asked for some Chumus, the waiter brought us a bowl of good chumus, didn't know that would cost $30
!!
The lamb and pasta was 5/10. Lamb was great, pasta undercooked, hard to chew some parts.
Overall for a bill over $250 , we would expect the food and service, to be 100%

Food = 6.4/10, service =8.2/10

I can’t recommend Malka enough. Everything from the vibe to the menu was spot on, and we genuinely had a great time. The service was a highlight, especially Ian, who was super helpful and attentive throughout our meal. We will definitely be coming back.

This was my first time at this restaurant, and it definitely won’t be my last. I truly had a wonderful experience; beautiful atmosphere, delicious food (my steak was absolutely exquisite!), and outstanding service. Ian (if I got his name right) was incredibly kind, attentive, and helpful. I sincerely hope he’ll be our server again the next time I visit

The staff was attentive and welcoming without being overwhelming, which made the whole meal feel relaxed and enjoyable. Definitely a place we’ll be coming back to!

I’m shocked,we close a prefix menu for 16 people yesterda, the restaurant give us table for 10.
In Thursday, they have all the time party and people come to the place without reservation, some people came to our table to be part of our birthday celebration for 2 guys.
The manager give order for the hostess and the waitress to make the prefix menu for 26!!!people.
Barely 10 people ate and if you charge us for 26 people at least open table and give enough food for everyone!!!
After that they charge the credit card who was for the deposit before everyone put the money for the bill.
The manager was very rude and angry and I’m still waiting for someone to call me we ask for refund of part of the bill.

Lovely place, horrible manners by the front hostess Tamar. She is unprofessional, disrespectful and rude. Food is mediocre, overpriced. Nice venue and great location. I hope the owner looks at this and makes some serious changes, will not bring family or business meetings here again.
