Phoenix, 7311 E Thomas Rd Suite 100, Scottsdale, AZ 85251

If you’ve ever lived through a pet emergency at 2:00 AM, you know that the 24 Hour Emergency Vet at 7311 E Thomas Rd Suite 100 is a total lifesaver for the Scottsdale and Tempe community. Located right on Thomas Road near 73rd Street, this isn't just a clinic that stays open late—it’s a full-scale emergency hospital that has been a fixture in the 85251 area for decades. For those of us with "fur babies," knowing there’s a place that never turns out the lights—even on Thanksgiving or Christmas—takes a huge weight off our shoulders.

What really distinguishes this spot from a standard vet is that they are always ready for the "high-stakes" stuff. Whether it’s a rattlesnake bite, a sudden chocolate ingestion, or a hit-and-run accident, the team here is trained to handle trauma in real-time. They have an on-site ICU, digital X-rays, and a full surgical suite that are staffed around the clock. One of the best benefits for local pet owners is their "triage" system; just like a human ER, they assess every pet the second they walk through the door to make sure the most critical cases get immediate life-saving care.

A unique feature that locals love is that they don't just treat dogs and cats. This is one of the few 24-hour spots in the Valley that actually has experience with exotic pets, so if your bird, rabbit, or reptile is in trouble, you aren't stuck waiting until Monday morning to find a specialist. They also offer advanced pain management and oxygen therapy, which can make all the difference during a respiratory crisis. The staff is famously calm under pressure, which really helps keep you calm when you’re walking in with a sick pet and a racing heart.

Logistics are built for speed, which is exactly what you need in a crisis. There is plenty of well-lit parking right in front of the building, so you don't have to struggle to carry a heavy, injured pet across a giant lot. They are also great about communication; they’ll give you a clear medical plan and a cost estimate before they start, and they work seamlessly with your regular daytime vet to send over all the records and test results the next morning. It’s a clean, high-tech, and genuinely compassionate center that has earned its reputation as the "safety net" for Scottsdale's pets.

Business Hours:

Open 24 Hours a Day, 365 Days a Year (Note: No appointment is ever necessary for emergencies—you can simply walk in at any time of the day or night.)

They were amazing. ChatGPT recommended this place because the reviews were mostly all positive and that they frequently mentioned “very fair pricing”. The staff was all wonderful and their pricing was definitely fair yes it may cost a little bit more than a standard day time office visit, but not by much. They are upfront with pricing, and don’t try and hit you with a bunch of extra charges. I Strongly recommended this vet. Thank you to all the staff that helped us with Axel this evening.

My puppy was starting to cough, missed dinner and was acting lethargic. We called this hospital around 6:30pm to consult about if it’s worth bringing him in and thank god the receptionist encouraged us to. It was about an hour wait, shortest ER vet wait time I’ve experienced. They suspected kennel cough but warned us to watch if his symptoms worsen in case it’s valley fever. They did and we brought him back the next afternoon. He was seen immediately, evaluated for valley fever and it came back positive. The vet came up with a quick action plan and walked us through an itemized best and worst case scenario in terms of testing and treatment. I left him there overnight and feel like he is in great care. Everyone is very professional and clearly love animals which is always the biggest reassurance. They accept Trupanion insurance which is great if you have it. You do need to secure a deposit but that’s fair considering the nature of an ER vet and filing insurance claims.

I was scared, didn’t know what to do. My only instinct was to provide my pet with the best care possible. Dr. David and nurse Jen did just that. They listened, supported me, and advised me with several different options to help my pet skittles within a budget that I could afford.

I’ve never experienced such level of generosity from a medical facility before. And to know that they did everything they can to treat my baby, it warmed my heart.

Skittles is home with me now, and she’s healings. I am able to go through this healing process with her with a comfortable level of peace and knowledge from their level of expertise and advising me with her health. I have nothing but love for Dr. David and nurse Jenn, I highly recommend VEG to any Pet owners looking for the right care.
