If you’ve lived in the North Mountain or Sunnyslope area for any length of time, you know that HonorHealth John C. Lincoln Medical Center at 250 E Dunlap Ave is much more than just a hospital—it’s a local landmark. Situated just northeast of Central and Dunlap, this 239-bed facility has been serving our community for over 80 years. It has a real "neighborhood" feel to it, even though it’s actually one of the most advanced medical centers in the state. Whether you’re a long-time resident or just moved to the Valley, it’s the kind of place that gives you peace of mind knowing top-tier help is right around the corner.

The biggest standout here is their Level I Trauma Center, which is verified by the American College of Surgeons. It’s one of the busiest in the region, equipped with a helipad and a specialized team that can handle the most critical emergencies 24/7. But they are also widely recognized for their "Magnet" status in nursing—an award they’ve earned five times. In plain English, that means the nurses here are at the top of their game, providing a level of bedside care and compassion that really stands out when you’re going through a tough time.

John C. Lincoln is also a massive hub for specialized surgery and heart care. They are leaders in robotic and scarless surgery, which helps people get back on their feet much faster than traditional methods. They also host an Accredited Chest Pain Center and a Primary Stroke Center, so they are the "go-to" for anything cardiac or neurological. Beyond the high-tech stuff, the campus is home to the Desert Mission, a community program that has been helping local families with food and childcare for generations. It’s this deep connection to the neighborhood that makes it feel different from a typical corporate hospital.

Navigating the campus is pretty straightforward once you get the hang of it. Most of the parking is conveniently located at the front entrance off 2nd Street, and there are maps posted throughout the halls. If you're visiting a loved one, the hospital generally observes open visitation 24 hours a day, though they recommend no more than two visitors at a time to keep things quiet for the patients. The main entrance doors are typically open from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, so if you arrive outside those hours, you’ll just need to head through the Emergency Department lobby to check in.

Our roots are deep, but we don’t rest our success solely on how long we’ve been here. That’s why we’re always assessing the health needs of our community, so we can continue to grow to meet those needs.

Located in north central Phoenix, John C. Lincoln Medical Center is a leader in robotic and scarless surgery and offers extensive heart care services with a radiation-free, 3D heart-mapping system.

The 239-bed medical center is also home to:

American College of Surgeons-verified Level I Trauma Center Accredited Primary Stroke Center Accredited Chest Pain Center Certified Cardiac Arrest Center Specialty surgery unit to care for orthopedic, urology, neurology and other surgery patients Inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services Inpatient and outpatient medical imaging Critical care unit Interventional radiology services General surgery resident training program

This is absolutely the worst ER ever! No one comes when you call the nurses station. You can see them all talking, laughing and obviously not working with patients at the station. My mother almost had an accident on herself after waiting for 10 minutes and hitting the “toilet” and “nurse call” button repeatedly. When a nurse did finally arrive she was very rude and seemed inconvenienced that we were asking for assistance. My father and I waited over 9 hrs to be roomed and anytime we needed assistance, I had to flag someone down through the window. Clearly annoyed that we were interrupting their fun. I would NEVER come here for help again. Worst health care I’ve ever seen. The nurses clearly need to be monitored closely and retrained on patient care.

We went to Banner Thunderbird last night at 11:30 p.m. We waited until 4:25 a.m., but they never called us. We left and went to John C. Lincoln instead. We arrived at 5:00 a.m. and were discharged at 6:45 a.m. It was very smooth— in and out quickly. The RN and doctor were very professional.

My husband and I feel like they are keeping him hostage here for Financial reasons. They've given false diagnosis several times. And then when you come to them with an article or comment from their own staff they'll tell you stop reading most of it is false. None of the doctors come together to give the same info the charts are never updated so each nurse or next doctor knows whats going on. He's in more pain from all the IVs they kept trying to stick in him instead of a Piccadilly line bruised both arms so bad they are now swollen With a clot. Hed gotten worse bring in here not better then when asked to please go home to get better they said yes but won't give him his blood pressure medication that he came in with and its the same meds they are giving him now. This place is joke i have pictures and written statements if anyone wants proof dont leave your loved ones by themselves each time I go to walk the dog come back and husband is shaking has had an accident on himself because they didn't respond to his light and had him hooked to a bunch of machines and the bed alarm on like he's a child then won't respond to the beeps unless they know someone is here with them otherwise the machine just go stupid unless it annoy them. Don't leave your loved one alone here check all.meds that are being given to them check side effects and interactions with other meds they are given.. dont let them do oops surgeries either that were not needed in the 1st place. If its life threatening get them to a bigger city hospital quickly being here they are just looking to put you in debt

The worse nursing staff I have ever seen except one young lady. My boyfriend was taken in via ambulance due to seizures. He was on the 4th floor but we could never get any updates as to his care plan or what was going on. The day nurse on 8/7 had the best attitude, if they could clone her they would be awesome. He ask for 2 days for some benadryl and could never get it. The night nurse on 8/7 was a very rude and nasty person. Would never go to this facility if you want proper care and a staff that cares about the patients.

Everyine is so nice. They are thorough, and funny. They really made me feel important, and not just another number that they had to get past until they could finally get to what they really were looking forward to. Thank you all so much for that. It's pretty bleek out there, and you all just gave me a little hope.

I'd give 10 tousand negative stars for the er admin lady with glasses and brown shoulder length hair. While she was be littling my painand 18 ppl get the go-ahead with 1/2 of them no pain, walking, no big deal. DIDNT GET VITALS TILL AFTER MY X RAY??? NO PAIN MED? WOW. But because she's so condensending, I sat.. and sat.. and sat.. till the whole ER was cleared of anyone with a hang nail. I asked 3 times why everyone went before me. Then she says "oh there was a little mix up" I'm in so much pain IM hoping she loses her job. But that's mean and I don't want to stop her from breaking her fake smile on the devil.

This Hospital is always focused on taking care of the patient in the best possible way. They are kind and sensitive to helping and listen to all requests.I felt very secure and well taken care of.The nurses are outstanding and Physical Therapy as well as Occupational Therapy take an aggressive role in helping you while in the hospital as well as help at home.. I was very impressed with everyone's active role in caring for me. I can't say enough about the excellent care at John C Lincoln Hospital.

I’m celiac and my two sons as well. Came to cafeteria. The two working possibility Asian and Romania or Russia not sure. Told us they only accommodate patients with food allergies. They did offer to make my son gf burger. The women did not change her gloves touch everything for my sons meal.I told her got mad. Looks like she didn’t understand me. Honor health train your employees on food allergies. If she did this with us most likely is doing it for the patients that have food allergies. That’s reason they are getting sick. Celiac is very real must take serious specially in a hospital. We didn’t eat anything. Only bout a fountain drink. My son goes for a refill and the lady yells at him. He cannot get refill. Please put a sign let customers know. The service and food preparation is terrible don’t eat here…

Yesterday my friend needed to go to the hospital.. This hospital is the closest in proximity to where she lives. So we arrived at the emergency room.. This felt like nothing short of a disaster.. My friend was very upset and may have been short in her answers. But the staff treated us like we were imposing on them requesting Medical care. The only exception to the attitude of the people in the emergency room would be the triage nurse. I wish I had got her name. She was a young blonde girl, and she was very caring and very sweet.. I realize at this hospital is a trauma center. However, it really felt like people weren't being seen. The waiting room just kept filling up with people. And it didn't seem like anyone was going back..
There was an elderly gentleman in there. Several times he tried to flag someone for a question and he was ignored. I personally went on his behalf three times to request someone come talk to him, I was ignored.. I did spot the triage nurse mentioned earlier, and she came directly over to find out what his needs were. That's what healthcare should be.. After about 3 and a 1/2 hours.
We left the ER and went over to Scottsdale. Shea North, another honor health hospital. Where we were treated amazingly, And that would be where I would recommend you go.. Upon arriving, we were greeted with amazing smiles. And after about an hour and a 1/2, a room became available. The staff at the other hospital.
Whet above and beyond, and had great bedside manner.. The staff at John C Lincoln Honor Health hospital leaves much to be desired.
We also noticed that after we left the hospital. They put a very untrue account of our exit. I was standing right there. My friend never raised her voice and Yelled at them, although they probably deserve it..

Zero stars as zero care given. Worst hospital ever. Waiting room roughly 32°F. Initial visit was for car accident. Doctors left out almost everything explaining lab/CT/MRI test results and discharged being told, " Make sure you follow up with your primary" but neglected to say exactly why. Been waiting 3 weeks and they still have yet to send the MRI to my primary card doctor so she can do her own and order XRays, which hospital did not do. At this point, if anything is broken, it is healing wrong and will have to be re-broken. 2nd visit, as i was vomiting more than likely from concussion from accident, 5 hours there, not a single soul left waiting area and taken back. Everyone leaving looking for other hospitals to get assistance. Even as a last resort, I would never go here again!

Overall I had a decent experience here. You lost a couple points for the following.

1. You put me in a room with the stinkiest man on the planet. He had a yeast infection from poor hygiene, and I was supposed to share a bathroom with him.

2. Your social workers are a joke. Why bother dropping a form off to my room to never come back for it? She should have stayed while I filled it out. She waste my time, her time, and the hospital's time not being very good at her job.
