TOP important and interesting reviews from patients

I can’t say enough about the professionalism, knowledge and compassion of the entire Hospital personnel from receptionist to gift shop clerk to coffee barista, to the social workers, technicians, nurses, and doctors. Our mom was brought in for a life-threatening condition. It was touch and go that first night and the ER doctor was both compassionate and gently direct she may not make it. She did! And from that moment through her entire stay, all were incredibly kind and competent. They were sensitive to our mom’s dementia patiently explaining over and over again what they were doing and why. I work as an EMT and pastor and interface with many hospital and medical facilities. This one ranks at the top!

I absolutely love this hospital they took great care of me, and the food is amazing from the cafeteria. Everyone was very nice and attentive to my needs while I was there. The second floor Nurses Amy ,Diana, Judy, Evie, Patricia & megan are my absolute favorite. I didn’t go without anything while I stayed in there and they never made me feel like I was asking for too much. These are amazing nurses and this is an amazing hospital. I recommend this hospital to anyone and I will be delivering my baby here as well.

This is the best hospital I have ever visited.

Nurses and staff were amazing and very thorough explaining everything but was definitely not impressed with the ED physicians and they didn’t seem compassionate and felt towards the end they were rushing us out only because it got really busy. I wouldn’t come back here again.

edit 2: i reached out to their audit & compliance dept asking they restrict sharing of my chart/information and to provide details of sharing beyond the minimum necessary, Mr John Fahey replied not even acknowledging my request just receipt of letter with a dance around root requests - now i need to hire an attorney to get them to comply with HIPAA laws
***

ever go to a business and look around at how new and nice it is then find out that management designed processes around profit and deceiving customers- sort of like a nice looking used car dealer well thats this place..

this is my 4th GI doc and my first visit to Hornor also last visit. the staff tried to accommodate me and the doc was great and i could see us making some headway but they have broken processes.

1) they emailed [blank] scanned intake forms that wernt fillable prior to appointment not direct Ling me to online portal
2) i got portal link like a day or 2 before visit - got as far as getting signed up not entering my info - I have other things going on in my world
3) they had way too much information on me that not even my PCP has. im unclear if they got my labs from pcp or from labs directly from lab even though i never signed a release . sometimes theres information thats not relevant and/or wouldnt interfere with any treatment yet could create bias in staff or provider think like prior addiction treatment, a false positive STI/cancer
/HIV test, etc
4) i was asked to sign off on all sorts of agreements which i legally binding contracts w/o advanced review before visit or before registration - they had them laminated on wall next to registration desk, initially i was presented with just a signature pad where registration rep was trying to describe what i was signing. i had to push back to get a printed copy before signing
5) registration should just be handled by a computer, they did a stellar job creating layers of physical barriers and eliminating writing areas. thats some heavy lifting on staff to make a connection
6) sharps container in room had keys hanging in lock - it feels like they just inviting a drug user to take used needles
7) waiting room just felt more like what one would expect for a facility treating children was somehow very uncomfortable
8) they are too vague on some of their policies including information sharing. i wouldnt be shocked if i start getting spam from big pharma or medical device outfits..

management is focused on profits first, also second, then patient health or big pharma, i just cant really tell... i will probably never go to an honor facility ever again they just as bad or worse than st lukes in tempe

edit- since my visit i sent their privacy officer a letter asking not to share my information beyond what is required for billing. they either ignored my request or too busy to read it as they are sharing my information with 3rd parties that are not involved in my care, not for billing, etc.

slow, waiting forever even after doctor gave us diagnosis, nurse took forever to bring meds, asked for blanket never got one. listened to 3 nurses argue over how many patients they had and who wasn’t going to do what, with which patient. completely ridiculous unfortunately insurance dictates where we have to go. will make sure to go to different honor health even if my arm is cut off. jessica the so called nurse gave my mother medication and the blood pressure alarm machine was beeping her pressure was 174/72 it went up after she gave her the medication and no one came to check. these people are awful. after medication her blood pressure went up to 189/84 and the person i asked for helped was most bothered. i should have used nurse call button. there was at least 5 or 6 people sitting around and apparently only one nurse can take care of a
patient no matter their condition in this ER. i wouldn’t bring my dog here. medication made her worse she was shaking and getting a headache. what an awful, awful place. thank goodness Jessica went home early and we got a different nurse. Maybe we’ll get better care.

my daughter was brought in by ambulance because she is paralyzed and had a lot of bleeding in her rectum. We waited five hours before we saw. a doctor. The doctor did examine her and requested a scan. It took another two hours, and then another doctor came in to discuss the scan, they did not give her her meds on schedule after nine hours in the ER, They finally decided to admit her. They promised her her pain meds, and again we waited a couple hours to receive those. At 10:45 PM almost 12 hours later she finally got wound care and most of her meds. I know it was busy in the ED, they could’ve admitted her much sooner and gotten her care up on the floor. It was a very frustrating and tiring day for all.

Had a 1:30 appointment today and got there at 1:10 as they want you there 20 minutes before. When I got there I was told I was at the wrong location so I looked at all the messages they sent and it was a phone number I googled for directions. When I was told I was at wrong location I immediately called to notify them I will be a bit late. My navigation said I would be there at 1:40 which the lady on the phone said I will note it and you should be fine. As I’m driving I thought I better call again as my navigation now says 1:42 which they said would not be ok. She then said don’t worry I will note the account. When I got there I checked in and sat down. A few minutes went by and NICOLE said you can’t be seen today. I was shocked and said please look at notes. She smirked and said nope provider (Emily fanning l) is on call and can’t take you. UNREAL!!!! NICOLE AND OTHER GIRL IN FRONT were enjoying this as they were laughing and send messages to each other and others in the office.I said I can see anyone and they enjoyed that as I sat down for 20 minutes as NICOLE said NO ONE CAN SEE YOU
DON’T go here. They are so RUDE and Emily fanning horrible what a joke!!!!!!!’n if I can give a 0 I would
I am in contact with corporate will update

I must communicate the following regarding our recent experience at this medical facility. My wife and I welcomed our baby on October 8th, 2023, and for the first two days following the delivery, everything appeared to be proceeding as expected.

On the second day, while I was visiting my wife, I took our two-year-old for a walk down the corridor. As we exited the room, we distinctly heard someone lurking near my wife's room at the end of the hallway. Initially, I paid little attention to it, assuming we were heading in the direction of the nursing station, and the person was hidden behind a corridor near the emergency exit. My wife's room was 3104.

As we heard the suspicious activity, I approached to identify the individual, but they dashed towards the emergency door, setting off the alarm. As I turned the corner to see who it was, the emergency door was closing. This unusual incident triggered a swift response from the nursing staff who questioned whether I had opened the door. Their uncertainty about the person's identity was evident.

I descended to the hospital cafe using the elevator and encountered a security guard who inquired if I had activated the emergency door. It was evident that this was a matter of concern, especially with the NICU in the vicinity. I explained that I was the father of the newborn and had no reason to tamper with the emergency door.

Later, I asked a charge nurse about the outcome of the investigation into the individual who opened the door. The response was vague, with no specific details provided, except that it was someone who forgot their badge.

Fast forward to the day my wife was discharged; she returned home with a dry cough, which developed into what seemed like a cold. Two days later, we had to return to the hospital due to severe pain at the surgical site, which was somewhat expected. While waiting for her, I dined at the hospital cafe and ordered a Philly Cheesesteak. I shared this with my wife. Following a medical examination, we learned that her pain was due to a small hematoma under the surgical site. She was discharged after providing a urine sample.

The night I returned home, I developed a nasty, scratchy throat, which evolved into a severe cold. My wife woke me at 6 a.m. the next morning because our 9-day-old baby had developed a cough. So far, our infant has been spared, thanks to breast milk, white blood cells, and prayer. Nonetheless, my condition worsened, and I woke up this morning with a fever and body aches. Immediate measures, such as using oil of oregano, prevented a more severe outcome.

The inexplicable aspect is that none of the hospital staff, including nurses, appeared to be ill. This has left us both perplexed and concerned, as we do not typically fall ill in this manner.

I am sharing this review to raise awareness of our experience and hope for improvements in patient care and safety at this location, more so for patients, as again, the staff all appeared to be healthy as a horse. We are grateful that our newborn has been spared thus far, as well as our three other daughters. We have been forced to wear masks in our own home, in an effort to spare them from this sickness. Otherwise, we would be facing a much more distressing situation.

Sincerely,

Leo

I'm considering filing a complaint for
an ER doctor's unprofessional behavior and dishonesty. I had such a strange and frustrating experience with the ER doctor, who intentionally left some ultrasound findings out of the report just because he knew that they contradicted his opinion. I was there for a gallbladder attack because I couldn't get my nausea under control and I just needed some Zofran so I could stop being so sick and get some rest. I have been to the ER a few times in the last 3 months to get help managing the worst of the attacks (I manage most attacks at home myself) while I've been working with my primary doctor to rule out other digestive issues, and we arrived at the conclusion that I definitely need my gallbladder removed. I also have Hashimotos/Hypothyroidism (an autoimmune disorder) which is also known for causing gallbladder problems. I trust my doctor's judgment, he's been a practicing DO for 40 years, he knows what he's doing. So I'm currently waiting for surgery.
This ER doctor however, insisted that it's not my gallbladder, and ALL the other doctors must be wrong. He said that since I "just" have sludge and don't have stones yet, there's no way it's my gallbladder. (that's completely incorrect, and sludge always turns into stones after sitting in the gallbladder for awhile, so why wait for that to happen?) He kept saying it's my stomach, and that I just need to take PPIs. I explained to him that I've been through the process of ruling that out months ago and PPIs actually made things much worse. My doctor said not to take them anymore, because it's not my stomach. ER doctor didn't care, he continued to be undermine my own doctor by saying that they're just fixated on my gallbladder (yes they are, because it's clearly my gallbladder) and he was oddly determined to "undiagnose" my gallbladder attacks. He suggested that some of this is in my head. Ironically, he said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results- that's exactly what he was doing though with the PPIs. I wasn't even expecting different results when I went to the ER, I literally just wanted some Zofran so I could stop being so nauseated. I'm just trying to manage attacks while I'm waiting for surgery. The way this doctor spoke to me I felt like I was in the twilight zone or something, and being gaslit. I was discharged with a prescription for PPIs that I'm not supposed to take. And when I looked at the ultrasound report, I found that he wrote- in all caps- that nothing was found and that I have nothing that indicates that the problem is my gallbladder. That's outright lying, there's sludge clearly visible in the ultrasound.
It's not even really the fact that he disagrees with my own doctor, that's fine, he's entitled to his opinion even if it's wrong, that's not what bothers me so much - but it's not ok to manipulate the reports like that. It's the blatant dishonesty that bothers me.
It's extremely unprofessional and dishonest to leave findings like that out of reports, just because they contradict his own opinion.

Went for a procedure. Let me pick music then turned it off when they thought I wouldn't notice. They were talking about someone who died in a motorcycle crash and their funeral while I was awake and listening. Extremely unprofessional.
