Dr. Abildgaard is a fellowship trained, board-certified orthopedic surgeon with subspecialty certification in sports medicine. He specializes in arthroscopic and reconstructive surgeries of the shoulder, elbow and knee including such procedures as ACL reconstruction, meniscus surgery, cartilage restoration, arthroscopic rotator cuff and labral surgery, along with both anatomic and reverse shoulder replacement. Dr. Abildgaard sees patients of all ages and athletic backgrounds. He understands that each patient has unique individual needs and directs treatment towards the patient’s desires and lifestyle goals.
Dr. Abildgaard received his medical doctorate from Loma Linda University in Southern California and completed his orthopedic residency locally at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix. He supplemented his training with a fellowship in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Reconstruction at the renowned Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas in Greenville, South Carolina.
