Dr. Field is a board certified, fellowship trained orthopedic spine surgeon. Dr. Field has specialized training in minimally invasive spine surgery and motion sparing technologies, such as cervical and lumbar Artificial Disc Replacement, as well as non-fusion stabilization. In addition, he has extensive training in adult deformity correction and treatment.

He graduated magna cum laude from Vanderbilt University with a major in Philosophy and a minor in Chemistry. Dr. Field went on to earn a Masters of Science degree in Physiology and Biophysics at Georgetown University. He then earned his Medical degree at Tulane University, where he finished in the top 1% of his class.

Dr. Field completed both his surgical internship and orthopedic surgery residency at Duke University. He completed a spine surgery fellowship at The Spine Institute in Santa Monica (CA). His peers recognized Dr. Field to be one of the top Phoenix spine surgeons in 2009, 2011 – 2021, and 2023.

He was also recognized as one of America’s Most Compassionate Doctors. This award is based on reviews written by hundreds of thousands of patients. The Compassionate Doctor certification is part of the Patients’ Choice recognition program, where patients rate and vote for their favorite doctors.

I was recently referred to Dr. Field due to persisting numbness in both hands and shooting nerve pain in various areas of my body.

From scheduling to care received by Dr. Field and his staff at D.I.S.C, my experience has been one of best when it comes to healthcare. Dr. Field and his staff are the model of what all healthcare providers should be: kind, professional, and prompt when providing care.

After diagnosing my situation, Dr. Field, in the most compassionate and clear way imaginable, let me know I was in need of some work in my C4 - C6 area. His clear explanation and pleasant demeanor made the decision to proceed very easy.

It’s been nearly four weeks since the procedure and I’m so thankful for choosing Dr. Field and D.I.S.C. The numbness and nerve pain is gone and I’m recovering extremely well; I should be back to my active routine without any limitations in no time!

Dr Field and his team did a great job! I was in a great deal of pain and he was able to move his schedule around to fit me in very quickly. My surgery was done at OASIS Hospital, which was also a nice experience. Everything went as described and I went home the next day. The pain that I was experiencing was gone. The after surgery aches and pains set in after about 48 hours and because of the meds that I was prescribed, I was able to handle the discomfort with no problems. I received two follow up calls from two different nurses and they were very thorough with their questions and provided me with answers to questions that came up as we talked.
I’m looking forward to my follow up meeting in a few days and I hope to be released for more activity very soon. Dr Field is very professional and is easy to talk to. He gave me a complete understanding of the procedure and how things would go and he was right on everything. I highly recommend Dr Field!

OH my gosh, where to start. I had no idea who Dr. Field was until he was referred to me by my pain mgt doctor. WOW, first class. Talks to you like a human being without doing the moon walk to get out. Takes the time to answer ALL your questions with a smile. Trust me, I did my homework prior to seeing him and he has a world class resume'. He was my first back surgeon I visited and didn't need to get a second opinion. I am 24 hours out from surgery as of right now. I walked out of the surgical center pain free and am still 100% pain free. The nurse did a follow up this morning to see how I was. Just great people from top to bottom. The front desk, the nurses, the anaesthesiologist in the surgical center...EVERYONE. I just wanted to hang around after my surgery, they were that nice. So far, so great. Need to be careful for a couple weeks, but all is great. Genuine, honest and talented. Put him on your list of doctors to check out.

I was referred to Dr. Field by a pain management physician who suggested I may require back surgery. Dr. Field's office arranged for me to obtain an updated MRI and scheduled me to see Dr. Field the following week.. I was immediately comfortable with Dr. Field. He is extremely kind, informative and thoughtful, fully explaining everything in my MRI that was germane to the pain I was experiencing. Three days ago Dr. Field performed the back surgery we had discussed . Although I am somewhat tender and uncomfortable due to the incision, I can already feel that the internal pain I felt in my hip area has markedly decreased. It is easier to walk and I surmise that mobility will become easier every day. Thank you, Dr. Field.

Dr. Field explained my problem in terms I could understand and possible plan of action providing an approximate reduction in pain of 70% and possible elimination of pain in other affected areas. However, I was disappointed when Dr. Field suggested having the procedure preformed closer to my location. Dr. Field even recommended a fellow classmate of his located 90 miles from my home. Further disappointment and anxiety arose after contacting this classmate only to discover this physician was not taking new patients. I feel very comfortable with DISC, the friendliness and the professional manor of all the staff I communicated with. I sincerely feel that this facility was for me and others so to improve activity levels and quality of life. I just live too far away.

Dr. Field and his Physician Asst Luke both tended to me and my diagnosis. Dr. Field scheduled me quickly in his surgical schedule. Have extreme confidence in Dr. Field and his skills. Cannot say enough in how wonderful and professional both were in tending in my need. Awesome is the best description.
