Add to that the excitement and fun we bring to shopping for groceries, and you start to get a sense of what we’re all about. Oh yeah, we’re a mission-driven company too.

The original Whole Foods Market opened in 1980 with a staff of only 19 people. It was an immediate success. At the time, there were less than half a dozen natural food supermarkets in the United States. We have grown by leaps and bounds since our first store opened.

They have some things that are really hard to find in the rest of Portland. Many of their products are overpriced, but if it's the only place to buy it, what are you going to do? And, some of the things they sell are really really amazing (thank you for Jeni's ice cream! It's expensive, but SO good). They have some fish that you're not going to find outside of the dedicated fish market, and often have prime grade beef, also not generally available in the other standard markets (although Pat's is usually solid, shout out to Pat's).

Most of the "365" brand products are sub par though. Steer clear, usually.

Driving around here is pretty hairy, but the store is great. Be careful when entering the parking lot.

Prices are up there. Good source of organic items. Premium prices. Less stocked with produce than other wf. Small bakery.

Great service and experience always. Love the bakery especially. My only small wish for the Portland location is that the prepared food quality is not always consistent.

Please keep the pizza going a little later! I picked up a slice at 7:30pm… it was room temp and soggy!!! I really wish I could get my wf pizza on after work.

Edit: love Whole Foods for keeping an eye on the reviews. Can you also make your (great) coffee a little stronger? I will then be there at least twice a day, five days a week, for sure! WF is the most reasonably priced good coffee in town.
