For well over a century, Roger Williams Medical Center has been a fixture in our community, city and state. We are known as a health provider focused on the highest level of care with a personal touch. Over the years, Roger Williams has been home to a number of firsts in the areas of diagnosis, treatment and research. Today, our legacy of innovation continues as we transform health care in the region as an affiliate of CharterCARE Health Partners and Prospect Medical Holdings, Inc.

We are an academic medical center, affiliated with Boston University School of Medicine, which allows us to train the physicians of tomorrow. The benefits of academic medicine are many: more well-trained physicians and specialists collaborating on your care, access to the latest clinical trials, and treatments that are sometimes not available in a community hospital setting.

That care is administered across a variety of settings. Among those:

The Roger Williams Cancer Center, which was recently recognized as an Academic Comprehensive Cancer Center;
The state’s only senior-friendly Emergency Departments (a distinction we share with our affiliate Fatima Hospital);
The state’s most advanced continuum of elder care, which includes the senior-friendly Emergency Department, specialized geriatric care hospital units, geriatric psychiatry unit, geriatric oncology program, and our home care program;
The hospital setting, which offers a host of highly regarded inpatient and outpatient services;
At your residence through our home care programs;
In community physician offices throughout the state;
In our laboratory settings inside the hospital and throughout Rhode Island;
In local neighborhoods, businesses and schools through our community outreach.

Over the years, the quality of our care has earned us many distinctions. Particularly in the area of cancer care, elder care, and gastroenterology, our care is on par with the best in the country. In all specialties, our commitment to advancing medical research, applying what we learn in the patient setting, adhering to the strictest protocols, and measuring clinical outcomes ensure that as a patient here, you receive the highest standard of medical care.

TOP important and interesting reviews from patients

The staff here are amazing. They got me all the help I needed. The doctors check everything and if they don't have enough equipment they make sure to let you know. It's in a great place, easy to access, and if you don't have a ride home they can provide you with one. They helped me set up my appointment for my after treatment. I highly recommend it.

The staff was very personable, professional, comforting, helpful, and really made my procedure easy. They let me know exactly what was going to happen during the whole process. They couldn't have been nicer!

This is why Roger Williams Medical Center is my go-to place for healthcare. I've always had a great experience no matter why I was there. I can't thank them enough.

Outstanding hospital, excellent care in the ER by courteous and professional health staff where they don't have a major wait most days and give excellent care quickly no matter what type of issue you may arrive with, highly recommended for a well staffed hospital

I was hospitalized at Roger Williams due to surgery. I can tell you that on the morning of July 5, the first nurse who treated me was so attentive to me that I would appreciate it, but I called the others who were at the front desk to be able to use the bathroom and the 3 that were there all ignored me, then when they took me up to the room there was this only CNA named Ana Garcia who treats patients very badly and to top it off with a lot of disrespect and with a smell of alcohol, the one that does I can say that it was super excellent, her name is Lisbet Infante Rn, they should have more nurses like her...

I went to this hospital experiencing abdominal pain, fever that had just broke that morning, feeling dizzy / weak, tired and body aches / overall feeling of unwell. The doctor saw me for 2 minutes or less and said it was GERD. I informed her that I have experienced GERD but at this time I was not feeling any acid reflux and / or heartburn at all. She said it can feel different and left with orders for blood work and urine sample. I was sent back to a waiting room to wait for my results I guess to free up the room I was in. I felt uncomfortable sitting with sharp pains in my abdomen and wished I had just stayed home in bed. Eventually a nurse came to the waiting room & told me my labs were normal and I could leave and sent me with a prescription for GERD. I left confused and frustrated and didn’t fill the script because I know my body enough to know I was not experiencing GERD. 2 days later I received a follow up call from the hospital asking if I was given a prescription of antibiotics for my UTI. This of course took me by surprise. The person who called me though was friendly, kind and patient and discussed my symptoms with me and that my lab results showed a UTI and prescribed me antibiotics. The fever and pain make more sense with this result and I’m grateful someone took the time to check in with me and give me the proper diagnosis. I’m not sure I would return to this hospital though I hope it was just a one off experience. The staff overall was very friendly and I know my visit was during a compromised hacked computer system outage and I’m empathetic to that but I just wish I had more time with the doctor especially to discuss the diagnosis I disagreed with instead of a very brief discharge from a waiting room.

3/23-Updated from 2 stars to 5. After my not so great experience after COVID was ending, I have been back for surgery (gallbladder and lapband removal). The entire experience was superb. Will be returning for my other surgeries.

0 stars for being severely understaffed and not giving a handicap person appropriate parking instructions. But two stars because the poor people stuck working there were awesome
I had an abdominal ultrasound scheduled for 9am on 4/1/22. I called the day before because I walk with a cane and in the pics online the handicap parking spots looked quite a distance away. I was told, to go to the main front entrance, that the spots were not that far, but if I had an issue, just call and they would come out to help. And go to the registration desk right in the front door.
I get there. The handicap spots ARE far away, but I strained and pushed myself into the hospital. I didn't want to bother anybody. Little did I know there was no one there to bother.
Inside was an empty information desk, not registration. There was a sign to use phone and dial 0 for help.
I did and told them I needed wheelchair assistance to ultrasound. It was 9am.
At 9:20 I called again and they said they would page transport again. I called down to ultrasound to make sure they could even still see me. They told me I would have to wait for the people at 9:30 and 10 to be done first.
I was so upset because I was supposed to be home in time for my husband to go to work. So now he has lost pay.
I guess me having to wait until after the other people appointments didn't matter, because I didn't even make it down there until after 10am.
The transport gentleman, the registration lady and the ultrasound tech were all superb. I feel so sorry for them having to work in such a short staffed hospital. The all told me it was even worse the day before.
There were only two transport people for the whole hospital today and the day before he was by himself. Unacceptable!!!
But the kicker was when I left, I drove around the hospital so I could figure out a way to get in for my surgery. And here, right around the corner from the main entrance is handicap parking right next to a door that leads to registration and diagnostics.
Are you kidding me!!!!!!!!
And if it's like this, do I really want major surgery there? I am quite concerned and frankly scared as I will be by myself, with no one to get help from understaffed nurses if I need things.
I'm really going to have to talk to my doctor about this and maybe reconsider. I have 3 surgeries coming up.

Diagnostic wing review - I just returned home from having a small procedure in the diagnostic wing. I have to say, every single staff member I encountered was just amazing. Not only for my own care, but I also observed how caring, attentive and considerate they were to all other patients in the wing. To a level you just don’t see in healthcare these days.

Special recognition to Brett, the RN that was attending me for much of the day. What a wonderful, personable, thoughtful and caring person! I could easily be friends with him IRL, he’s my kind of people!

I normally never go out of my way to write reviews but just had to for this facility. Kudos to all! Doing health care right!

I am 100% convinced that anything over a one-star for this hospital is paid for. There's absolutely no way they give top notch care to these people and then treat everyone else like trash from the gutter. Literally the gutter will treat you better. Trash hospital, trash staff! No one in charge cares. Nothing has changed

Phone number doesn’t even work. Called over 20 to get in contact with the medical records team no one seems to work here or answer the phone . You’ll have better luck getting in contact with the president than these people.
