Seoul Asian Market and Cafe: Authentic Korean Groceries & Hidden Dining Gem
Quick Answers

Seoul Asian Market and Cafe is a specialized Korean grocery store and attached cafe located at 1005 Rittiman Rd #101 in San Antonio, TX. Often described by locals as a true, authentic slice of Korea in Texas, it offers a dual experience: a meticulously organized market packed with traditional ingredients and a no-frills, spartan cafe serving up exceptional, home-style Korean comfort food. Whether you're stocking up on premium banchan, grabbing a viral Korean hot dog, or sitting down for a bubbling bowl of stew, Seoul Asian Market and Cafe delivers an uncompromisingly authentic culinary journey.

The Market and Cafe Experience

Stepping into Seoul Asian Market and Cafe, visitors are immediately met with a nostalgic atmosphere that accurately reflects the experience of a traditional Korean neighborhood market. The dual-purpose establishment was built on a mission to provide the San Antonio community with high-quality, genuine Korean ingredients while also offering a space to enjoy freshly prepared, traditional meals. The unassuming, low-key vibe keeps the focus exactly where it belongs: on the exceptional quality of the food.

For home cooks, the grocery section solves the struggle of finding specific, high-quality Korean ingredients. The market features well-organized aisles lined with staples like fresh produce, specialty oyster mushrooms, spices, and an impressive wall of ramen. Their recently renovated freezer section—complete with clear doors for easy browsing—is stocked with authentic heat-and-eat options, while the cold cases offer an array of Korean coffees, sodas, and teas.

The true "insider edge" of this location, however, is the attached cafe. Diners place their orders at the grocery cash register before heading down a short ramp into a spartan dining room. The kitchen operates in full view, churning out spectacular traditional dishes that rival high-end Korean restaurants. From the spectacle of bubbling blood sausage stew (soondae guk) and sizzling beef bulgogi to comforting dolsot bibimbap served in a superheated stone bowl, the menu is built for purists. Every meal is accompanied by a generous, rotating array of banchan (small side dishes) such as blistered peppers, kimchi, and sesame bean sprouts, making the dining experience both culturally immersive and incredibly satisfying.

A lot of Asian staples and not as crowded as the other Asian market. That is a plus because I hate shopping in chaos. They also have fresh produce , a large frozen section and a restaurant inside.

I have been shopping at this store for years and have generally enjoyed supporting a local Asian market as part of an Asian-American Army family. Unfortunately, my experience today was extremely disappointing.

Over the years, I have noticed prices increasing significantly, but what happened today was far more concerning. While shopping with my daughter, we were followed throughout the store by an employee for the majority of our visit. The behavior was obvious, persistent, and made us feel singled out and uncomfortable.

As longtime customers, being treated as though we were under suspicion was both embarrassing and upsetting. No customer should feel watched or targeted while simply trying to shop. I hope management takes concerns like this seriously and provides additional training on respectful customer service.

Based on this experience, I am reconsidering whether I will continue shopping here in the future.

Wonderful korean market. Large selection of groceries. My favorite part was the café and restaurant. Didn't get to try the restaurant but the cafe did have Korean Hot Dogs. As far as the hot dogs go I wasn't impressed I don't feel like it was the same as other Korean Hot Dogs I've had but they weren't horrible. And I definitely would like to go back and try other menu items they had.

I remember coming this store from day one when open. the Kim's family owners were so helpful professional and always smiling with customer make them feel welcome. I was hesitating should I leave review or not but I think they need to know how this particular cashier she was very unprofessional and so rude that I have never dealt with any Korean even I'm korean myself and not sure she was Korean or just another Asians but name she gave me was Leo, so she says.
First she drops my grocery on the floor and didn't even try to pick up my grocery foods from the floor and she just stood there do nothing and not a single word. So I made Point myself to go pick up my own grocery from the floor and put them in the bags, I believe this is a very unacceptable not even offer me to exchange grocery that land on dirty floor and not saying a single word. When a person that has common sense and some educated person will not behave like this while you're working environment serving customer. Finally when I ask for her name and manager she replied to me that I don't need to know her name.. so I decided to ask other cashier for her name that's when she gave me her name was Leo..
I really hope higher management read this review and yes I will continue to go give their business and hopefully will change to be better.
And also yes, work can be very stressful and you might have a bad day but you should never behave like this to customer just because you're not happy.

Great selection of Asian foods. I love that I can find my indonesian staples, which are hard to find. The café is a nice place to relax an grab a bite, and the Korean corn dogs alone, are a reason to go here, the rest is just an amazing bonus.
