- Great service! Tuesday 9 am, no line. Booked a Premium SUV and got a car (Ford) within 1 minute. Due to the seating we wanted to change to a Chevrolet Suburban. Also this was done in 1 minute. The car was new and clean. Used it for 2 weeks on a road trip, all 6 of us very happy with this rental!

- We had a good time, valuable cars and in excellent condition. The GMC was big and fun. The Jeeps were hybrids and brand new.

Preferred Service Proceed to the baggage claim area. Follow signs to the Air Train. At the Air Train platform, board the Blue Line Train to the Rental Car Center. Proceed inside and down the escalator to the third level, south end of the building. Upon arrival at the rental facility, check your email on your smartphone or the Preferred board for the space number of your preassigned vehicle.
You have the option to accept the preassigned car or exchange it for a similar car from the Select & Go Exchange Area or upgrade the car to a specialty vehicle from the Select & Go Upgrade Area. Cars in the Select & Go Upgrade Area have the additional daily cost posted on the hangtag.

DRIVING NORTH ON HWY 101: Drive past the airport. Take the San Bruno AVENUE Exit East. Turn right at the traffic light on N. McDonnell Rd. Follow the signs to Customer Parking.
DRIVING SOUTH ON HWY 101: Take the San Bruno AVENUE Exit. At the top of the ramp, turn left. At the United Airlines Bldg. traffic light, turn right on to N. McDonnell Rd. Follow the signs to Customer Parking.
DRIVING NORTH OR SOUTH ON I-280: Take I-380 East Exit at South Airport Blvd. At the bottom of the ramp turn right. Follow the signs to Car Rental Return and then to Customer Parking.

I prepaid the car rental and completed the online registration process. When I arrived at SFO to pick up the car, I was the last in line and there were about 15 people in front of me. I figured it would be a short wait as there were 8 agent terminals, but only 2 people working. Within 5 minutes, one of the agents went on break, leaving only 1 agent working. Four other people would come out from the back, chit chat, then return to the back. After about 30 minutes, the line in front of me had only reduced by 3 people, and a line of about ten more people had formed behind me; yet there was still only 1 agent working. After about another 20 minutes, with people in line now calling Avis to complain, the agent that went on break returned. At that point I asked the gentleman next to me to hold my place in line and I walked over to Enterprise and National because their lines were very short and they had more agents working. Unfortunately they were sold out. So it took well over an hour to finally get to the counter. I was given a Sentra. I picked up the car on a Tuesday morning and brought it back the next day in the afternoon. Total cost: $401.67.

This review is rated a 1 star because I cannot select any lower. LAX was a terrible return location. The rental center was extremely busy and not very organized. The lot attendant directions were out of the norm, no further explanation was shared, and no receipt was issued. Upon my return home I found the rental was not properly closed out. Customer service was very slow in response and it took 3 weeks to resolve the return process.

I will definitely think twice before returning a vehicle to LAX Avis.

Avis is great. I had a tire blow out on my way back to return the car, and I was able to turn it in with the spare installed and the blown out tire in the trunk with no difficulty whatsoever. Thanks Avis!

Very professionally, staff was very courteous and respectful, instructed us and gave us some very helpful information about the city.
