1. Chicago Brewing District’s Dancing in the Streets

Friday, August 4 through Sunday, August 6 | Hubbard Street between Paulina and Wood
This festival in West Town promises “hot jams and cold brews,” featuring lots of music, dancing, and beer. The event is also a tip-of-the-hat to the Grateful Dead song and the late Jerry Garcia.

 

2. Festa Italiana

Friday, August 4 through Sunday, August 6 | Naper Settlement, Naperville
Italian food will be in abbondanza at this festival in Naperville, which includes a Tuscan-inspired wine bar and a meatball eating contest.

 

3. Destination Asia Festival

Friday, August 4 through Sunday, August 6 | The Morton Arboretum, Lisle
This family-friendly event at the Morton Arboretum is designed to transport you to the varied cultures and traditions of Asia with food, music, and traditional dance.

 

4. Taste of Chicago: Marquette Park

Saturday, August 5 | Marquette Park (6743 S. Kedzie Ave)
The City of Chicago’s “bite-sized” Taste of Chicago festival returns to Marquette Park with a diverse group of vendors and food trucks from around Chicago.

 

5. Wheaton Brew & Seltzer Fest

Saturday, August 5 | Memorial Park, Wheaton
This festival celebrating beer and hard seltzer returns to Wheaton with more than 60 options. Note that this is an adults-only event.

 

6. Garlic Fest

Wednesday, August 16 | Everts Park, Highwood
The tastes and smells of garlic are the highlight of this festival in Highwood, which will feature all kinds of garlic-themed dishes.

 

7. Ribfest Chicago

Friday, August 18 through Sunday, August 20 | Lincoln Ave. between Irving Park Rd. and Berteau Ave.
More than a dozen vendors come together to turn 50,000 pounds of pork into a hefty meal for the festival goers of this annual Chicago street fest.

 

8. Micro Brew Review

Saturday, August 19 | Marion St., Oak Park
Beer, cider, and seltzers from more than 60 breweries will be served at this festival in Oak Park. The eco-conscious festival also aims to be environmentally friendly and works with vendors to create as little waste as possible.

 

9. Sangria Festival

Saturday, August 19 and Sunday, August 20 | Humboldt Park
Chicago’s Humboldt Park becomes sangria central for this returning festival, which will have food and sangria pairings, as well as arts and crafts and photo contests.

 

10. Eeeeeatscon

Saturday, August 19 and Sunday, August 20 | The Salt Shed (1357 N. Elston Ave.)
If the extra e’s are any indication of enthusiasm, this festival at The Salt Shed will have plenty of fun with vendors from Chicago and all over the country. According to the event, Eeeeeatscon has the “spirit of a music festival, but with restaurants as the headliners.”

 

11. Wine and Art Walk

Saturday, August 19 and Sunday, August 20 | The Morton Arboretum, Lisle
Have a glass of wine while you peruse this art show at The Morton Arboretum, which will have photography, woodwork, jewelry, painting, ceramics, glass, and more from artists in the Midwest.

 

12. Corn Fest

Friday, August 25 through Sunday, August 27 | Lincoln Hwy. between 1st and 4th St., DeKalb
What began as a corn boil in the 1950s in DeKalb is now a large music, food, and carnival event complete with a beer garden. On Saturday of the festival, there will be a large corn boil.

 

13. Taste of Greektown

Friday, August 25 through Sunday, August 27 | 315 S. Halsted St.
Celebrate all things Greek in Chicago’s Greektown. The festival returns for its 33rd year to celebrate Mediterranean cuisine from a handful of the neighborhood’s restaurants.

 

14. West Chicago Food Festival

Saturday, August 26 | West Chicago, Downtown
The town of West Chicago in DuPage County hosts this food festival that will host 20 different food and beverage trucks.

 

15. ZooBrew

Saturday, August 26 | Brookfield Zoo
This beer-tasting festival at the Brookfield Zoo has “bears and beers, lions and lagers, anteaters and ales”—oh my. Note that this is an adults-only event.

 

16. Pizza City Fest

Saturday, August 26 and Sunday, August 27 | The Salt Shed (1357 N. Elston Ave.)
The Salt Shed is busy this month with another food festival, this time celebrating everyone’s favorite: pizza. Roughly 40 pizza makers will be serving up a slice, or several.

 

17. Lakeview Taco Fest

Saturday, August 26 and Sunday, August 27 | 3500 N. Southport Ave.
A dozen vendors will be on the busy Southport corridor in Lakeview to feed the good people of Chicago tacos. Fillings range from the traditional, such as chicken, steak, beef, or chorizo, to the unique, like mushrooms, goat, duck, and seafood.
