Edward-Elmhurst Health is one of the larger integrated health systems in Illinois. The system was created by the merger of Edward Hospital and Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare in 2013.

Our goal is to make every moment you spend at Edward Hospital as comfortable and stress-free as possible. This mindset dates back to 1991, when Edward became the first hospital in Illinois to offer all private rooms. In the years since, we've introduced more innovations in comfort, like space for family to spend the night, peaceful healing gardens, and a pediatric ER designed with a fun nautical theme.

TOP important and interesting reviews from patients

My son was delivered here and we had a great experience. The facility was nice but more than anything it was the staff that made the whole process as smooth as possible. Amazing bedside manner from all those involved.

I really want to acknowledge Cynthia, a RN in the Vascular Center. Her bedside manner is second to none. She is thorough, efficient, and truly a lifesaver. Thank you for making our visit flawless.

Also wanted to share a picture of Moxie. Moxie delivers meds and Starbucks to patients. She brought a smile to many visitors.

This hospital by far is the cleanest and friendliest hospital in this area. The staff actually care, answer any and all questions no matter what they are, and their bedside manner has more than exceeded any other service provider I have ever gone to. I truly wish to thank each and every staff member there you guys are awesome, you rock, and you all truly do not hear that enough as medical professionals. Don't ever forget that you are all appreciated especially in this day and age. I would give 10 Stars if I could.

I was born in this hospital. Been coming here all my life. Had nothing but good to say until now. The worst ER experience ever. No efficiency at all. Been waiting 8 hours for a wrist splint. Nobody knows anything. Had to beg for blankets for an old lady that was cold. Took over an hour to get those. They registered her in 2 hours after me, even tho she was here first and came via ambulance. Will probably be spending the night in this chair. Go anywhere else. They don’t care about you here.

I felt xenophobia and racism for two nurses, terrible attention, they didn't mind hurting me with the intravenous, the girl placed the pressure meter on top of my intravenous, I told her that it hurt me but she didn't care, she leave it there doing the pressure, The other guy, when he went to remove my intravenous, he was very rustic, fast and desperate. Of the rest, I think everything is very regular.

We just became parents in that hospital even though we live in Spain.
The medical and nursing service was perfect.

The bureaucratic service and paperwork is terrible.

As we are from another country, we need to know if it is worth it for us to take out a medical insurance for our child or to pay for it ourselves.

We only spent one night there.
Since then we are asking how much is the bill to pay.

We only have 1 month to make the medical policy since he was born and there are 4 days left.

For almost a month now, they have not told us the amount to pay, we understand that it may be difficult, but it is more than enough time. They do not answer our emails.

We have to leave the country and they do not give us any solution.

I went to ER for lower back pain and can’t speak highly enough of experience. Everyone was so pleasant and professional. I was eventually admitted to Heart Hospital and was there for two days. Amazing staff of nurses and technicians. I think I had 6-7 shift changes and smooth as can be. Food service was very efficient even though food was not always flavorful. Lots of variety though. The hospital is well run and always has been. Only complaint is transportation appears to be backed up. Don’t know if short staffed or just busy as I waited easily 45 minutes for return to room. I was brought down by an ultrasound technician because of over an hour wait to go to procedure. I thought that was really nice on her part. ,

Everybody I met, nurses, aids, doctors, food service were caring, knowledgeable, and respectful. I can't think of anything I would ask to improve.

Excellent care and speed in diagnosing my blood clots at the emergency facility on 127th street. Followup care at the hospital was made easy by the excellent medical staff attending me.

The nursing staff up on the 3rd floor was absolutely amazing & had great bedside manners! All the drs that attended to me especially Dr. Sinhg (Podiatrist) that did my emergency surgery was absolutely amazing in getting this post op infection under control!

My husband was discharged early due to his behavior towards the staff, which I agree was unacceptable. In his defense he has dementia and was in extreme pain due to a compression fracture on his spine. I think the situation could have been handled differently. I should have been contacted that his outbursts were happening and the situation could have been dealt with and his recovery and rehabilitation continued. His care was very good otherwise, the staff did their best in a complicated situation.

Over 6 hours waiting in the ER with my boyfriend who is having a major headache, tingling down his arm, heart palpitations, a heart aneurysm, etc... but no rush... could be a heart attack. Never again will I go to this ER. The vitals area is so packed it's difficult to walk through. The staff does nothing to alleviate those waiting for hours on end in pain.

I got a call 5 days before the procedure saying they have me registered for X-ray not MRI. I did get that straightened out but insurance first turned me down and then I had to fix that. As far as the actual day of procedure it was very well done.

just make sure you’re ready to sit and wait for hours on end and also give them all your information like allergies or the fact you need to take insulin AND HOW MUCH YOU NEED bc they will have you sitting there for 5 hours + then tell you your symptoms might be caused by not taking your insulin.

Run as fast as you can away from Edward Hospital. Tonight was just another disappointment at this hospital. If I could give zero stars for the ER doctor who treated me and the triage nurse I would. The triage nurse downplayed our symptoms and the ER doctor told me it was such a coincidence that me and my daughter had similar problems. I won’t go into specifics of our diagnosis here but the Duly Immediate Care felt differently. So much so that they sent us to the ER. If you’re in pain or feel sick don’t go here. This ER sucks and I hope I don’t ever need to return.

I went to the ER. I was very anxious but the nurses, doctors, just everyone was so patient and compassionate. I was also amazed at how quickly I was helped.

Came in with chest pressure, fatigue, tachycardia(I get tachy at random intervals), and SOB.

Was able to get ekg, and vitals but cause of my small veins they tried to attempt to prick a vein to get blood drawings for the blood tests but weren’t successful so they canceled my blood tests and just put a bandage over where they tried to take my blood.

So didn’t get any chest X-ray, or blood tests done for me!!! Just ekg and blood pressure.

Than was sent out to wait in waiting room. I came in at like 5:30 pm. And sat there since 10 pm! I only got triaged but never admitted on in or seen by dr. So my dad came for me and I just left for home getting impatient as it took so long and I didn’t wanna sit till midnight as I was getting starving! Was told though by nurses that my ekg looked good(well I guess that’s good? But I won’t know though what my blood test results would be since we weren’t able to get that for me).

(I just hope I’ll be ok! Especially having to wait next to a crowd of sick people: as I have three trace valve regurgitations in pulmonic, tricuspid, and mitral valve and irbbb. And am small built for my height as I am underweight and struggling to gain. So idk if that would or wouldn’t make me immunocompromised and cause me serious/dangerous problems if I’d I catch an illness from someone. And if someone’s illness or not will worsen these said stuff for me. As idk!
As I’m also a very anxious for my health person. Also hope they didn’t puncture any no no place when they tried to attempt drawing my blood? Cause now feel soreness in left arm where they tried and sore ring and pinky finger on left hand… dunno if that be normal or not as again I’m a health anxious person… and just wanna be ok. I just want to be 100% ok always ya know?)

Update: noticed blood pressure was apparently 118/58 and now I’m sitting here today and freaking out about that. Especially all felt yesterday. I be praying I have nothing serious!!!

Still feeling tachy and drowsy today! And worrying what this is because I didn’t get seen.

Excellent medical service and professionalism throughout my treatment. The greeter, medical associates at check in, nurse staff, surgeon, anesthesiologist, OR staff were wonderful. Today definitely ensured me I did well selecting the Edward Elmhurst Medical Group and hospital to provide my medical service needs.

Billings department lied to me about a dispute payment. They said the account was frozen until insurance worked through it, so I waited. Reassured the payment overdue will not go into collections. Well it did and my credit rating suffered. Suing this place.

This is the reason this place doesnt make best or even good hospitals list. There are some professionals who want to do a good job and do, then there are those who dont qualify, dont care, or not well trained with the help of hospital administration keeps a low standard which ignores underlying problems compromising patient care, that is why the hospital is not rated an A among other hospitals. From some floor doctors, who must work on commission, they keep trying to keep you there for unexplainable lying reasons backed up by specialist who also been proven they dont know what they are saying. Most dont know how to operate the equipment keeping your stress level high, forget recovery. The food to patients has been rumored to even be rejected by North Korean camp prisoners- which is 2nd worse food after Edwards.

My husband was sent to the ER with stroke symptoms in his eye on Oct 20th, 2023. We waited around 3 hrs before he was taken back to have his blood drawn. The ER was full and it was obvious that the hospital was busy. Unfortunately that does not excuse the very RUDE technician that took his blood. Her name tag read Amber. I do not know her last name. She was aweful. We also witnessed her berate an elderly women in a wheel chair in the middle of the waiting room. She is in the wrong line of work. My husband had anxiety due to his new blindness and really needed to encounter polite calm staff. This is not acceptable!!!! Very unhappy…
Sincerely,
Katerina Bollnow
