New York City, 976 3rd Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11232

If you live in Brooklyn, you know that the Costco on 3rd Avenue in Sunset Park is practically a borough institution. Located at 976 3rd Ave, right near the 36th St subway station (D, N, R lines), it’s the place where we all go to make NYC prices actually manageable. It’s a massive, two-story warehouse that somehow manages to feel like a community hub despite its size. For local families from Park Slope down to Bay Ridge, this is the official spot for those "big hauls" that keep our city apartments stocked and our sanity intact.

What really makes this Brooklyn branch special is the unique, multi-level layout. You get the thrill of the "treasure hunt" as you move through the floors, finding everything from bulk-sized local favorites to high-end electronics. The Kirkland Signature brand is the real hero here—locals swear by the olive oil, the massive packs of paper towels, and the legendary $4.99 rotisserie chicken that has saved many a long Monday night. Because it’s a city location, you’ll often find a diverse selection of products that reflect our neighborhood’s melting pot, including specialty international foods you won't find at the suburban warehouses.

One of the biggest perks of this location is the sheer amount of "life maintenance" you can knock out in one trip. It features a top-tier Pharmacy, an Optical Department for quick eye exams, and a Hearing Aid Center. While this location does not have a gas station, it more than makes up for it with a large, dedicated parking lot—a rare luxury in Brooklyn—and a super-efficient tire center. If you’re coming by foot or train, the proximity to the subway makes it doable for those who have mastered the art of the "Costco cart" commute.

The vibe here is pure Brooklyn: it’s fast-paced, high-energy, and surprisingly friendly. Even when the checkout lines look like they might take forever, the staff here are experts at moving people through quickly, especially if you use the self-checkout kiosks. And of course, you can’t leave without hitting the food court. Whether it’s the classic $1.50 hot dog combo or a massive slice of pepperoni pizza, it’s the mandatory reward for finishing your shopping. It’s a clean, reliable, and essential part of the 11232 area code that just makes life in the city a lot more affordable.

There used to be times that you can go at different times of the week when it's off peak and they would be just a few people and you get your shopping done, now there is no off peak, it's Peak all the time, unless you go to last 45 minutes before they close.... Still too many humans.....

Today's trip was my first and last to this Costco. I have been to several different Costco stores on the East Coast. Never have I been harmed while shopping. But today the deliveristas were driving carts around the very crowded store, acting like they were the only people in the store. My heels were rammed 5 times in my 20 minutes of shopping and my cart was crashed into 3 times. I was getting scared I was really going to be seriously injured.

I would suggest to management either count heads and only let a certain number of people in the store at one time or do better crowd control. My experience today was unacceptable.

I arrived early due to the uncontrolled chaos of parking, but I saw the store open and decided to go in. I consider this rule to be discrimination against people, I am a Gold star member. I arrived at the store at 9:40 am and was not allowed in. The reason is that with this card I will be able to enter the store at 10:00 am. Only customers who have an Executive Member will be able to shop. I was disappointed and insulted!

Shawn is such a bubbly and pleasant person to be around. Keeps the lines moving, and made sure to help me locate items when I was lost. Shawn keeps me coming to this Costco even with the long commute. Great store with great people!

Great place to shop and provide excellent service. Their return policy is exceptional. I am a little disappointed that I can find one pound containers of strawberries at a local Chinese store in Brooklyn for $1.00, and Costco has a two pound container for $6.99. Blackberries at the same Chinese store were $1.00 for a container, and Costco's was near $7 for one twice the size. I just can't figure out why Costco sells those fruits, grapes, and others so expensive. If it is because they are perishable, the Chinese store also has similar concerns but are able to sell the fruits cheaper.

It was overcrowded and chaotic. The staff is awesome though. Be prepared to spend. My bill was $1,000 plus and I didn’t buy much. Of course everything is in bulk.

I asked a very small question to the staff member in the service department here. It took a minute. The staff member got angry. If you can see this comment, can you answer it? Your staff member Did you receive training before working here? don’t even have the most basic courtesy!

One-way line, I don't know which crazy person came up with it, the efficiency is much worse than before, and it takes a lot of time, and I have to consider going to other costco in the future.

The new self-service payment kiosks were definitely the wrong choice for Costco, as most of them are out of service most of the time. Other than that, this store is still one of my favorite places to shop from!

This wholesale shopping destination is an absolute gem for our monthly kitchen shopping trips.

Their prices and product selection are unbeatable. However, even with its spacious parking lot, finding a free spot on weekends can be quite a task due to its popularity.

The staff has a very poor service attitude and talks as if you owe them money. Small things become big things. If they don’t know how to adapt, customers will often have to pay for their mistakes!

This Costco was really crowded. It was hard to move around because there were so many people there. On the up side I found all the items I was looking for

Like all Costco stores, this was well-stocked. Only downside was that it was absolute packed with people.

The busiest Costco I've ever been to has no place to park, and it takes 30 minutes to an hour to line up to pay.

It’s good, but so crazy and crowded. You have to have lots of patience for parking and carts, unless you want to be involved in fighting, lol.

Crowded as usual, go on a weekday .. preferable beginning of the week ..place is too small for all the merchandises …worst Costco in the area …

I love Costco, but this place was a hot mess. All the carts were out and you had to badger people in the parking lot for one.

I love Costco! Best time to go are in the mornings on weekdays because it’s easy to go in and out. They open at 9am and the parking garage is always full by that time. I usually get there are 8:40 to park and peacefully walk in. Weekends it’s busy. The lines for cars and checkout are ridiculous to be honest. The Costco staff always are nice and try to hurry but I would never go on a weekend unless an emergency. They have everything in there. It’s always stocked, clean and the deals are amazing. For the food court your able to order ahead via phone or just walk in order and shop around. Pizza is always a great deal.

The only Costco in Brooklyn so get ready to Hustle! Not easy to find parking, always parked inside. Some shelves are starting to be full compared to previously. There is a Starbucks across. The food court is very limited compared to what have seen in other places. Go early and start upstairs first that's where food and clothing are then go downstairs for everything else. That's where the cashiers are.
