If you’ve ever thought a hospital had to feel like a sterile labyrinth of fluorescent lights and cold linoleum, Endeavor Health Elmhurst Hospital is here to shatter that illusion. Located at 155 East Brush Hill Road, this isn't just a medical facility—it’s a "Planetree" flagship designed to feel more like a high-end prairie-style lodge than a traditional clinic.
Here is a unique look at the hospital that redefined the "healing environment" for the Chicago suburbs:
The Vibe: The "Zen" of Modern Medicine
From the moment you pull up to the sprawling, Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired exterior, the message is clear: Nature heals. The atmosphere is defined by warm wood tones, stone accents, and massive windows that invite the Illinois sky inside. It’s a place where the "hospital smell" has been replaced by the calming essence of a wellness retreat.
What Makes It Truly Unique:
The "Whole-Person" Architecture: Unlike older vertical hospitals, Elmhurst is spread out and integrated with its landscape. It features healing gardens, water features, and walking paths that encourage patients and families to step out of the clinical world and into a natural one.
The Private-First Philosophy: Every patient room here is private, designed with a "hotel-plus" aesthetic. They aren't just rooms; they are sanctuaries with plenty of space for family members to stay overnight, emphasizing that healing is a social, not just biological, process.
The "Main Street" Concourse: The ground floor feels like a vibrant village commons. With a gourmet-leaning cafeteria, a high-end gift shop, and an espresso bar, it serves as a community hub for Elmhurst locals just as much as a waiting area for visitors.
A Beacon of the "Planetree" Model
Elmhurst Hospital is world-renowned for its commitment to Planetree Membership, a philosophy that puts the patient’s physical and emotional comfort at the dead center of every decision. This means the staff doesn't just treat the chart; they treat the person, often incorporating integrative therapies like music and pet visits into the recovery plan.
Why the Chicagoland Community Values It:
Safety Meets Style: Beneath the beautiful stonework lies some of the most advanced medical technology in the Midwest, from robotic surgery suites to a state-of-the-art Level II Trauma center.
The "Destination" Birthing Center: It is a regional favorite for expectant parents, offering birthing suites that feel more like a boutique spa than a delivery room.
The Quiet Factor: The hospital was built with acoustic-dampening materials to ensure that the "clatter" of a busy medical center stays at a whisper, allowing for actual rest.
The "Local Secret": Even if you aren't there for an appointment, the outdoor gardens are some of the most peaceful spots in the area for a quiet moment of reflection or a walk among the native Illinois grasses.

TOP important and interesting reviews from patients
- Amazing facility. Absolutely loved the customer service. Very well thought out and designed facility. Balcony for fresh air was wonderful. Oops are spacious and accommodating for family. Took excellent care of my aunt.
- I took a patient to Elmhurst Hospital for shoulder surgery Everyone was very friendly and helpful we actually left home at eight and home by five it’s a 45 minute drive from my home and stopped for medicine on the way home!!!! The anesthesiologist was very good at making the patient comfortable but woke easily so recovery was less time consuming and the nurse Kathy in recovery phase two was wonderful took time to explain the release and home care slowly and made sure understood I was going to put a sling on and off the patient which she helped me learn twice This day surgery was a good experience even gave you a free beverage at the cafeteria!! Waiting area had private room for personal phone calls hopefully I never need them but if we do know it will be comfortable Thank you to all the staff
- I couldn’t have been treated more professionally, efficiently and kindly than at Edwards-Elmhurst. I had outpatient surgery and stayed for one night for observation. The team of doctors were informative and comforting. The nursing staff and food were amazing! Amanda, Austin and Bianca were beyond caring. They practically attended to my needs before I even knew I needed them. I almost hated to leave, they took such good care of me. If you have to be in the hospital, this is the one to go to.
