TOP important and interesting reviews from patients

Amazing facility. Absolutely loved the customer service. Very well thought out and designed facility. Balcony for fresh air was wonderful. Oops are spacious and accommodating for family. Took excellent care of my aunt.

I took a patient to Elmhurst Hospital for shoulder surgery Everyone was very friendly and helpful we actually left home at eight and home by five it’s a 45 minute drive from my home and stopped for medicine on the way home!!!! The anesthesiologist was very good at making the patient comfortable but woke easily so recovery was less time consuming and the nurse Kathy in recovery phase two was wonderful took time to explain the release and home care slowly and made sure understood I was going to put a sling on and off the patient which she helped me learn twice This day surgery was a good experience even gave you a free beverage at the cafeteria!! Waiting area had private room for personal phone calls hopefully I never need them but if we do know it will be comfortable Thank you to all the staff

I couldn’t have been treated more professionally, efficiently and kindly than at Edwards-Elmhurst. I had outpatient surgery and stayed for one night for observation. The team of doctors were informative and comforting. The nursing staff and food were amazing! Amanda, Austin and Bianca were beyond caring. They practically attended to my needs before I even knew I needed them. I almost hated to leave, they took such good care of me. If you have to be in the hospital, this is the one to go to.

I was in the critical care unit for 5 days. This unit is so short staffed! Most of the time there was only a nurse on the floor!
If you wind up in the hospital, please show some compassion for the staff that is there to assist you.

I came into ER with a very painful dislocation and they were very responsive and got it taken care of. I was then admitted and went to the orthopedic floor. For the most part, the nurses and CNAs were very good and responded promptly to my requests.

I came in for a 3 hour glucose tolerance test and for my 3rd draw, the lab tech did not check my DOB despite me telling her my last name and took 8 vials of blood when she only had to take 1. She mixed up my profile with someone else's.

Waste of my time would never come here again I came in for a swollen thumb and they looked at it and said it will cure in 3 days if not then come back what am I supposed to do with the pain for the 3 days until it’s cured what if after 3 days it’s not cured you couldn’t look at it when it was fresh there probably going to think of something else after 3 days too

Went to ER after waiting for six hours at another facility. I was seen and treated immediately. The staff was responsive, compassionate, and professional. I was admitted for two days. Same excellent experience. The nursing staff was outstanding.

Wish I could personally thank everyone I interacted with yesterday. Had my first surgery and was pretty nervous. Everyone was so incredibly kind and friendly. Thank you, Dr. Labriola for fixing me up. And thank you everyone else whose names I wish I remembered, you were all so great!!

Went into labor the nurses were awesome. However someone messed up the time on when my baby was born. When we mentioned it to the nurse that brought out paperwork she looked at us like we were wrong and to accept what’s on the paperwork. My husband had to tell her he wanted to talk whoever was in charge, and that’s when she went and got it fixed. Another thing I didn’t like was the fact that when they take a baby’s bath they don’t do it front of you they just tell you that they are taking the baby to bathed them. Lastly when we asked if we could get discharged early they told us yes and would be out by early afternoon. Time passed and they kept changing the time. We didn’t get out till 9pm and at that point we would have just stayed another night. I would really like to give it a 5 star but it honestly depends on the nurses you get during the whole experience.

They started off on a very bad note. I brought my husband to the ED on 9/26/2023 at approximately 4:30 a.m. The room we were put in was filthy and gross. Blood spots on the floor along with a lot of dirt. I have already spoken to several hospital personnel about this situation so hopefully it has been handled. My husband was admitted and the nursing staff were all very nice and competent. After a CT scan in the ED, we were told he had a fibrous mass without any lymph node involvement so pretty unlikely that it was cancer. When the hospitalist Dr. Farah Ghouse came in after he was admitted into the hospital, she proceeded to tell us that they were treating this as cancer due to lymph node involvement. We were very grateful that the ED doctor had already told us the correct information. Upon mentioning that to Dr. Ghouse, she reviewed the records and confirmed that what we were told in ED was correct. If the ED doctor had not told us that, we would have been more upset than we already were about needing surgery. I think it's very important for anyone giving information about your condition should know what they are talking about.

Based on my experience, I can only give one star, and that's only because the facilities were nice.
I was really surprised to find out how poorly my symptoms were evaluated, leading down a mostly wrong course of medicine delivery, which also led to an extended stay. Had I been properly evaluated, my pain would have been effectively addressed, the courses of action taken at the appropriate times, and I could have been out in a day, instead of three.
I was delivered by ambulance to the emergency room very early in the morning. It took quite a bit of time to be seen, and I would find out later, given medication that would have never done anything to the pain I was experiencing. I was given morphine, Norco, and valium, among a few others, all of which I later discovered wouldn't have been able to do anything to the pain I was experiencing. I was also given these at other times as well.
I was scheduled for an MRI, even though it was IMPOSSIBLE for me to lay flat for 10 seconds, much less the 30 minutes they needed to do the test. I was never even consulted about the procedure and how it worked, or I would have told them not to bother without me being knocked out. I wasn't directly told they couldn't provide the necessary anesthesia to allow me to lay flat for 30 minutes for another five days - I overheard it being discussed. This was one extra day that was not necessary.
They consulted the "pain" guy who came up with a plan to keep me calm enough for the test, a plan was put in place, but I couldn't get the test done until too late in the day to have anyone read the results. The second extra day not necessary.
The test results read: a 1.4 cm extruded disc fragment within the right neural foramen at L4-L5.
I discovered on the follow up appointment with my Primary Physician, that with this injury, the messages from the brain to the affected area telling it to STOP sending pain signals would never make it past the injury in the spine, which is why the medications used to stop those signals weren't working. I can only imagine how much they are going to charge me for medication I was given that was NEVER going to do anything, simply because they didn't have anyone experienced enough to know what that medication works on, and why it would be USELESS in my situation.
It was determined I would get a shot of cortisone in the affected area. Once more, there was no evaluation of how I would be able to lay flat on my stomach to do this procedure. While preparing me for the injection, after only about a minute, I could no longer stand the pain and propped myself up to alleviate the excruciating pain I was enduring. They found a way to do it with me in that position, but I wasn't prepared for the pain to come from the injection itself. I was given local anesthesia, but it didn't do anything, and more excruciating pain from the injection. I was never prepared for how the procedure was to take place, or the pain that would accompany it. Had I been consulted, I would have brought up the fact that I couldn't lay flat on my stomach for any duration and requested some alternative situation.
I was able to be discharged that day.
On the follow up with my Primary, the first thing he asked was "Did anyone ever go over with you what was actually happening?" I found it a strange question at the time, but now understand that he must have known the patients are generally in limbo about the care they are receiving. Why else would he ask that? He did an unbelievable job explaining everything, from what the injury was, all the way through to why the medications they were giving me would be useless.
I'm just one person, and it seems like a lot of things went wrong. I can only hope that most people aren't experiencing this type care. I also discovered that for all this headache, it is really only a 50/50 shot it will even do anything. Had I really understood all this was only for a 50/50 shot, I most likely wouldn't have agreed to do it.

Healthcare should have never been turned into a business. We're people - a little compassion goes a long way.

Everything was a EXELENTE service until I was discharged to go home, by 9:00 am was discharged from my físical terapyst
9:30 was discharged by te doctor but, I have to wait to get discharged by the social worker I saw her by 9:40 am and she told me she was going to discharge me immediately, I changed my clothes and I was ready to go home befor 10:00 am. and I never saw her again, I argued with one of the nurses about my discharge and finally by 3:00 pm , going home from muy hip replacement cirugía and I have to wait for paper work for 4 or 5 hours? For me it is NOT acceptable for a patient who just got out of surgery
It is wy Ian giving you 3 stars.

My mother was taken to the ER by ambulance then admitted. Without exception everyone we encountered was kind, friendly and professional. It is a beautiful facility and looks more like a hotel than a hospital.

ALL of the staff were so helpful and considerate at all times from checkin through hospital care and discharge. The medical staff answered questions and helped make me as comfortable as possible throughout the surgery and recovery. The food was very very good and always arrived hot or cold as it was supposed to be.
I highly recommend Elmhurst Hospital.

The service was horrible the nurses would take anywhere from at least 20-30 mins to come to my daughters room after I hit the nurse button and this was for 3 days straight the only good experience was the morning of my daughter being released to go home with the tech was very helpful with getting her ready to go and even helped with getting a wheelchair to take her downstairs every nurse she had moved extremely slowly it was horrible. I don’t give them one star only because of the last tech she had

The staff and Dr’s at Maternal Fetal Medicine at Elmhurst Hospital are wonderful. They took the time to explain and educate me about the growth of my baby while watching the ultrasound.

The hospital is pretty and clean. The surgeon and his team were great. But, doctor's orders were not followed and I got sent home a day early which caused a lot of stress and juggling of schedules. The physical therapist said I was ready to go home and I didn't realize that her credentials could override a surgeon's orders. I would not want to do physical therapy at this hospital but everything else was good.

Ultrasound room ,on Monday, had a blanket of lint and dust coating the ceiling vent. I’d get the maintenance people to attend to this right away. I hope the other rooms have been cleaned. Not very sanitary.
