2023 Voice Referendum
The 2023 Voice Referendum will be held on Saturday 14 October 2023.
The Australian Consulate-General in New York will offer in-person voting from Monday 2 October 2023 to Friday 13 October 2023 (excluding the weekend of 7-8 October 2023) from 9:00am to 5:00pm.
The Australian Consulate-General is located at 150 East 42nd Street, Level 34, New York, NY 10017. Appointments are not required for you to cast your vote in person. Please bring photo ID.
Eligible voters can also return their completed postal votes via local mail or drop-off.

Visiting our office
Building requirements to observe when you visit the Consulate:
You must have an appointment confirmed in advance to visit our office.
If you have a fever, cough or any COVID-19 symptoms, please reschedule your appointment.
Please do not attend our offices if you are ill or if you have had recent exposure to someone who is ill.
Please do not bring individuals to your appointment who are not required to attend. If you are applying for a child passport, both parents are welcome to attend.
Please arrive as close to your appointment time as possible (and not prior) to allow for appropriate social distancing in our reception area.
Passports
In-person services are by appointment only. Please make your appointment online. Appointments can be scheduled up to 2 months in advance and are opened on a daily basis.

If there are no appointments available and you require an emergency passport appointment, please email [email protected] for assistance. You will need to provide evidence of the emergency (e.g. airline tickets, a letter from your employer or immigration notification).

Consular Assistance
The Australian Government will do what it can to help Australians in difficulty overseas, but in some circumstances, our assistance may be limited. The Consular Services Charter outlines the consular assistance provided by the Australian Government.
