Wonder what all these bad reviews for, have applied for uk visas twice from this consulate and got all of em in less than a week. Visa process very smooth as u just download all documents and submit em to Vfs in New York and boom yo passport comes back with a sticker inside.

At this point I do not know what else to do. My sister is getting married in a few days, I am the chief bridemaid. Its been one month, I have been calling and asking about the status of my visa but nobody is saying anything. I have escalated it and they are saying to keep checking emails. I'm really sad. This is disheartening.

I am a Turkish citizen and an intern in the USA. I applied for a UK tourist visa for Christmas. I sent them all the documents and my passport on December 8 and they said it would be known within 15 business days. I called and emailed many times but there is no response. I don't care about the UK visa anymore, I just want my passport because my USA visa is ending and I need to leave the country, but I don't have a passport, an unprofessionalism that is not expected from a consulate of a country

I had applied for a transit visa (part of the Visitor visa) to pass through LHR and go to my home country as my work visa in the USA had expired. The process for me was extremely smooth from biometrics (10/14/2022) to getting my visa (11/17/2022). All of this happened in 35 days even though the average time on the UK website is 7 weeks as of now. Initially I was extremely worried seeing all the negative reviews but trust me the UKVI is doing their best and they are working as fast as they can. So all I want to say, please ignore the negative reviews and as long as you have given all the documents properly, the visa should come on time.

Applied for a UK visit visa. Usually it takes approx 4-6 weeks and this time it was super fast (applied the regular self uploading option and not any premium options) Finger prints on Dec 7th and shipped same day. VFS New York received on 8th and UK Visas got on 9th and I got the passport back on 21st means in 10 working days I got my visa and passport back! If VFS is having some options to contact via email that will be great, rest everything is perfect in my case!

I had a decent experience with my business visit visa application. For people who are interested in knowing the timeline:

1. Biometrics on Feb 13 - I used the DHS biometrics center - takes up to 2 hours for your turn. Feel free to go earlier than your appointment time because tokens are issued first come first serve (Elizabeth NJ center). Mailed passport same day via UPS (all my supporting documents were self-uploaded prior to the appointment).
2. Feb 14 - Passport received by VFS and they forwarded my application to UK consulate on the same day.
3. Feb 15 - Passport received by UK consulate and under processing.
4. Feb 27 - received notification that my application was processed and sent to VFS who couriered it via UPS label provided by me on the same day.
5. Feb 28 - passport out for delivery. I missed it because I was not home but received it today (March 1).

So, I got it back in 12 business days vs their guidance of 15 business days for just processing application.

I am still slightly disappointed that in 2023 the visa applications have to take so long to process especially as the fee charged are high. Enough resources should be deployed to make these faster so people dont have to wait so long for their passports. I would have missed my trip if I didnt receive it in 3 more days.

I applied for a visitor visa over a month ago, and there's no update on it still. The so-called "Customer service" is a scam and an absolute joke. Don't even bother to call them and spend your money (0.69 a minute). For every question I asked, the response was - I'm afraid I don't have this information.
Now, as I already missed my trip to the UK, I just need to get my passport back. And so far, all my attempts to retrieve my passport haven't been successful.
This kind of behavior from a government organization should be made illegal.

AN UPDATE: I followed an advice from one of the earlier reviews and just showed up at the UK Visa processing hub. The security guards were so nice and helpful and helped me to resolve the situation.

After reading all these reviews I became anxious but my application went smooth. I did fingerprints on 6/14, mailed them passport same day, they sent me a notification they received it on 6/16. On 6/29 they put a visa in it and mailed it back to me. I did not do expedited option.
