Venezuelan restaurant
On the bustling Federal Highway corridor, Doggi’s Arepa Bar at 801 N Federal Hwy is a vibrant high-energy testament to the "American Dream" with a Venezuelan heartbeat. What started as a humble hot dog cart in 2010 has transformed into Hallandale Beach’s premier destination for authentic, award-winning Venezuelan street food.
Here is a unique and interesting look at this culinary hotspot:
From Hot Dog Cart to "Arepa Powerhouse"
The Doggi’s story is local legend. Founded by brothers Giovanni and Carlos Esteves, along with their mother Yoleida, the family transformed a single cart into a mini-empire.
The "Arepa Guru" Influence: Carlos Esteves, known to fans as the "Arepa Guru," infuses the menu with family recipes that balance traditional Venezuelan comfort with modern Miami flair.
Multiple "Best of Miami" Titles: Doggi's has consistently secured "Best Arepas" honors from the Miami New Times (2018, 2021, 2022, 2024, and 2025), making this Hallandale location a verified pilgrimage site for foodies.
The "Holy Grail" of Corn Meal
The menu is a masterclass in the versatility of the arepa—a gluten-free white corn pocket that is crispy on the outside and soft within.
The "Santa Bárbara": A local favorite featuring marinated churrasco, tomato, avocado, and a generous dusting of white shredded cheese.
The "Pabellón": A portable version of Venezuela’s national dish, stuffed with shredded beef, sweet fried plantains, black beans, and cheese.
The "Tequeño" Standard: No visit is complete without their tequeños—golden, spear-shaped bread dough filled with melting white cheese, often cited as some of the best in Broward County.
A Visual and Sensory Feast
The Atmosphere: The Hallandale location is known for its "unparalleled cool" vibe. It’s a modern, neon-accented space that feels like a high-energy social club. On any given night, the air is filled with the rhythmic sounds of Latin pop and the intoxicating aroma of grilled meats.
Digital Dining: Despite its traditional roots, the shop is high-tech, utilizing self-ordering kiosks and a streamlined digital system to handle the massive crowds that flock here during peak hours.
The "Nostalgia" Factor: For the local Venezuelan diaspora, Doggi's is a "Home Away From Home," offering traditional staples like Papelón con Limón (sugarcane lemonade) and Chicha that transport diners back to the streets of Caracas.
Beyond the Arepa
The "Doggi’s Parrilla": For those with a serious appetite, this massive platter features grilled churrasco, chicken, and chorizo, served with yuka fries and a half-cachapa (a sweet corn pancake).
The "Cachapa" Connection: If you prefer sweet over savory, their cachapas—folded corn pancakes overflowing with queso de mano—are legendary for their size and richness.

If you’re hungry, this is the place to eat! _____ Food: Large variety of items to choose from. Great selection of street food and traditional restaurant entrees. I’ve had the whole fried fish, burger, and tostone burger. Each was amazing. Their appetizers are great too! Try their tequenos! The coffee here is always great, try their espresso! Atmosphere: Every team member is very friendly and welcoming. I’m new to Venezuelan cuisine and every time I’m here they always guide me in the right direction. They are always packed, so if there’s a line or a long wait time, definitely wait because the food is worth it! Despite being packed and busy, the team is still welcoming and friendly.
