Consular Services   Israeli citizens holding a foreign passport will be allowed to enter and exit the country with their foreign passport until 31.12.2023. 



The State of Israel will allow Israeli citizens holding an expired passport to enter Israel using that passport. This information must be verified with your airline of choice, as airlines may choose not to allow boarding with an expired travel document.

The Consular Department offers a wide range of services to both Israeli citizens and non-Israeli citizens in the state of Maryland, Virginia and Washington D.C.​


Please be advised: 


·        Personal checks and cash are not accepted!  (please use money order/credit card).


·        Service requests sent via postal email must include an additional $12 - return UPS fee.

Notary Services


Notary services are offered on Mondays through Thursday by appointment only.


Make sure that the documents are in a language you can read fluently.


Bring your ID that you are identified with in the document (usually passport

Write your full name, your birth date, your Israeli ID number OR your nationality and your passport number.


In any case that you cannot reach our consulate to sign a document, it can be sign in front of a local notary and have an Apostille seal from the same state you notarized the documents.


Verification of Public Documents


Verification by means of an "Apostille” stamp. In 1978Israel joined the Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents - 1961 (hereinafter: the Hague Convention). The purpose of this Convention was to shorten the processes required for a particular country to recognize the official documents issued by another country, by means of “Apostille” certification. Public documents and certificates that were issued in one of the countries, that are signatories to the above Convention, must bear the “Apostille” stamp to be valid for presentation in Israel.

Verification by means other than an "Apostille” stamp Verification of a document in a country that is not a signatory to the Hague Convention should be implemented as follows:


After the document is verified by the appropriate authority in the country where the certificate was issued (usually the Foreign Ministry and/or the Ministry of Justice), the Israeli consular representative at the mission located in the country where the certificate was issued verifies the signature of the competent authority. 


Security instructions for people who wish to obtain consular services at the consulate office


The consulate’s security directives apply to people in the consular waiting room. Please respect the security requirements at all times!


1. Bring a photo ID.


2. All visitors and their belongings will be required to undergo a security check.


3. No personal objects will be allowed in the embassy, including mobile phones and electronic devices.


4. No bags/handbags or suitcases are allowed.


5. No food and/or beverage bottles or containers are allowed.​
