The Consulate General of Mexico in New York is the consular representation of Mexico that is located in the largest city of the American Union and its staff serves the Mexican constituents living in the tri-state area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
The main functions are to protect and defend the the rights and interests of Mexicans nationals and to assist and advice those who have suffered abuses, work related mistreatment or from authorities, putting first their human rights' respect.
Among the diverse functionalities of the Consulate, some of the services are the rendering of travel and identification documents (passports, consular IDs, military service records (cartilla militrar) and the Household Inventory Service). We also serve as a Vital Records Office, issuing birth certificates, marriage certificates, and rendering dual nationality services; we also issue powers of attorney and wills that cause effect in Mexico.
Another important function is to aid foreigners to enter Mexico by the control and issuing of visas. We also have the task with the promotion of investment in Mexico and the export of Mexican products.
This Consulate General promotes unity among Mexicans by participating in community development programs, encouraging Mexican art and culture abroad, as well as promoting the information that contributes a positive and better knowledge of Mexico.
Our mission is to serve the Mexican community with the highest standards of quality and efficiency, and our commitment is that this is fulfilled with every single of the 600 people that attend daily to this Representation in search of help, orientation or a document -either Mexican or foreigner.
